Night Seven: London

For a while it seemed like such a long way off, but tonight’s is the first of five shows at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall: three this week, two next week. Who has tickets for this evening’s performance?

The theatre is one of the world’s most respected and recognisable; from its inspiring mosaic frieze that encircles the building and depicts the advancement of the Arts and Sciences of all nations, to its incredible glazed-iron roof, at one time the largest unsupported dome in the world measuring 20,000 square feet and weighing some 617 tonnes. Some feat of engineering for 1869, that.

I think you probably deserve a break from whatever it is you should be doing right now, so here’s an enjoyable quiz based on a mural by Sir Peter Blake showing many of the famous faces that have appeared at the Albert Hall down the years. See if you can beat the clock to identify ten of them at random.

David, of course, played here for three memorable nights in May 2006 as part of his last solo tour, immortalised on DVD and Blu-ray the following year as Remember That Night.

Enjoy the concert, I’m sure it will be another night to remember, and we look forward to hearing all about it.

You can still submit your questions for Guy, if you haven’t already. We’ve had some good ones so far.
