Here we go, then

‘Finally!’, I hear you cry.

There’ll be a little something appearing at DavidGilmour.com in an hour’s time, at 3pm (UK), so do have a look and then come back to let us know what you’re thinking.

The chatroom will also be open shortly after, so please call in if you’re free.

You’ve been extremely patient, I thank you for that.

There’s plenty more to come this week, so stand by.

There’s this, for one thing:

David will be a guest on BBC Radio 2 this Friday, the 17th, at about 8.45am (UK). He’ll be chatting to Sara Cox who is sitting in for Chris Evans on the Breakfast Show.

BBC Radio 2 has the radio exclusive of the single ‘Rattle That Lock’, so you can expect other stations to play it soon after.

You’ll be able to listen to BBC Radio 2 live online on Friday, as well as catch up with it later on BBC iPlayer Radio.

  1. I’ve just looked in at quarter to three. . . . .now I’m pacing the floor, walking in circles, taking the phones off the hooks. . . .

    1. Hello FEd and all!

Hope all is well with everyone. πŸ™‚

The snippet is completely terrifying…not sure which way though until I hear the entire piece!

  2. Nice snippet! It sounds much much better than the fragment David played already from his iPhone.

Question now is: will it be a single, to be released this week? And then, is the cover that appeared on Amazon the single or the record cover?

    Questions, questions, always questions! πŸ™‚

Thanks FEd for the heads up!

  3. It’s quite an upbeat departure from OAI.

Looking forward to hearing David on Radio 2 on Friday morning and discovering what other revelations may be imparted.

  4. I like it! Sounds kind of funky! Hope more news can come with the interview, can’t wait! πŸ™‚

  5. …and the excitement starts. The snippet is intriguing. Can’t wait for more.

  6. Oh, Wow.

This is going to be great! If I don’t die of happiness first!! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

This teaser is competing with my PlutonianCharonian photographic happiness in really wonderful ways: congratulations, New Horizons!!! πŸ™‚

  7. Would love to hear it! The camping trip was awesome! πŸ™‚ I am exhausted from it, but it was well worth it.

  8. Sounds rather “popish” like he worked with Taylor Swift on the song. Not saying this in a bad way either.

    Thanks.
    Andrew

  9. …. the snippet made me definitely curious. Up tempo: will DG shred a solo? As Cesar wrote questions over questions…

It must be thrilling for you FEd! After so many years getting on topic again. πŸ™‚

    Cheers

  10. And so the madness begins…again!

This takes me back to those heady days of 2006…the hours spent on The Blog, gently prodding FEd for information about release dates, gigs, tickets, will David play at my birthday party and other such ridiculous requests.

I raise a glass to you all, particularly those of you not around in 2006…it’s gonna be a magical ride.

    1. Hailing from the same part of Wales as you, Simon, I nod in complete appreciation of your ‘Not bad’ knowing that it’s not far from being a very respectable ‘Tidy’.

We don’t like to praise anything too much, you see.

      1. You sound quite Bavarian. πŸ˜‰ Could be that the southern parts of a country are more stingy with compliments?

      2. I’m more of a ‘Top Darts Butt’ bloke myself.

Our American/English/Rest of World bloggers won’t understand the ‘butt’ reference though!!!

        Happy Days,
        Simon J

  11. Just saw the EPK. Great to see the Telecaster in action and as a close up.

Oh boy, am I excited. πŸ™‚

  12. Well, now I have to get back into the swing of hearing just snippets just like 2006. πŸ™‚ I love the little teasers. The cut has a bit of a different vibe to it, intrigued to say the least!

  13. BTW. Earlier today I came across a special edition of the Newsweek magazine focusing on PF. I opened it to a page that showed a picture of David and Brian May working together on the Armenia effort. Great picture and both looked so so young.

I haven’t bought the magazine yet as they are asking $10.99 (about 10 EUR or 7 BP).

    Thanks.
    Andrew

  14. Is that Guy Pratt on bass? Pretty funky, it could be. Looking forward to Friday.

2006 seems like light years ago, I can’t wait for some new music again!

    Thanks FEd! πŸ™‚

  15. ‘Do – Sol – La bΓ©mol – Mi bΓ©mol’ (is that ‘C – G – A flat – E flat’ in English?)… Funny how this French SNCF jingle so often got on my nerves as it’s often linked to bad news, strikes, train cancellations or delays, but when it comes to David singing it, I love it so much… πŸ˜‰

    Can I post this?

  16. Just 15 seconds of music and a feather floating in the air, with its universal symbolic meanings,
and this time very closed to the tour….very exciting, thanks Fed, goodnight.

  17. I’m just a little bit surprised, but on the other hand title suggested it will be something different.

Very much looking forward for more,
    Tomasz

  18. Personally, and call me old fashioned and grumpy (I wont be hurt – honest), I prefer to wait till the album is released and to hear it in its entirety. But I do appreciate that nowadays the internet is there to tease.

Just too set in my ways I guess……….

      1. Not sure which I found most jarring, ‘diss each other on sight’ or ‘rattle that lock’.

Well, unsurprisingly I don’t like it.

I didn’t like Endless River, and I didn’t like OAI… the first time I heard it.

Again unsurprisingly that little snippet is now stuck in my head.

No doubt within a day or two of hearing the track (and the album) it will be on repeat along with the rest of you. πŸ˜›

    1. You are a pair of grumps ! πŸ˜€ The bit that’s on the front page today is fabulous. Pete, give way, go listen to it otherwise you won’t feel the excitement !

      Fed. . . .bah humbug ! πŸ˜€

      1. LOL, no I will resist.

But I can’t blame anyone for taking a listen. I was young and excitable once myself you know.

I am excited, honest, but in a different way.

  19. I WILL be at Madison Square Garden on April 11, 2016 come hell or high water (assuming all systems don’t crash as we simultaneously follow that link at 10:00 am).

  20. So, Stevie D will be on drums by the looks of it!

We were speculating in chat yesterday and I said I didn’t think he’d be available because he’d be on tour with Crosby Stills and Nash (it said so on their web site!).

Last night I got an e-mail from a ticket agency which confirms that Stevie D will NOT be with them.

πŸ˜€ Apologies to fellow chatters yesterday, I was wrong!

We can still speculate that CS&N will turn up at one (or more) of David’s gigs though!

    ash

  21. Wow. David opted for larger venues in the US than last time. Just a step down from a stadium tour.

Sounds like he won’t be rolling out the “machine,” (i.e. Flying Pigs and crashing beds) but it will probably be pretty impressive.

Will have to see what I can secure in tickets.

    Thanks.

    Andrew
