Here we go

It’s the wrong side of the weekend, regrettably, but The Blog is back at long last. I hope you like the new look and features.

Thank you for sticking with me while these changes were made. They should all be self-explanatory; however, if you have any problems or questions, please don’t hesitate to let me know of them.

You’ll notice that we now have our own calendar for chats and birthdays, so do let me know yours.

There’s also a gallery made up of your contributions, be they photos or arty creations. Thanks again for all that you have submitted. I look forward to the next batch.

The previous posts are now open, should anyone wish to pass comment on Guitar World’s Fifteenth Annual Readersโ€™ Poll or my Hot 100 nominations. Did you give them a listen? I’d love to know if you voted and who you voted for.

If you want to stay here instead, maybe you could let us all know what you’ve been up to this past month to help me test things out. That said, I’ve been keeping up with many of you thanks to Twitter, which is always entertaining.

The chatroom will be open tomorrow – from 16:00 (UK) – so please drop by if you have the time. If you haven’t visited before, now’s the perfect opportunity to register. Everything you need to know about the chatroom is laid out in my (hopefully) easy-to-follow guide. Just click the link at the top of the page.

And finally, apologetically, for those who had been following The Blog’s feed, I hope you won’t mind subscribing to the new one, as the old one is no more.

Consider it added to the calendar, Bev. I hope you had a good one.

OK, I’ll stop replying to everyone now…

    Welcome back FEd,

I’m off to my weekly guitar classes, but it’s always time to drop a small message!

    Very great new looks…

And very clear the “quote” box, when you reply to the message. ๐Ÿ™‚

If I can, I will come in to chat tomorrow…

    Bye Bye.

  6. Ax

    Love Blog 3.0!!!

The look is great, the features are great, everything is great! Hats off to you FEd ๐Ÿ˜€

Now the obvious question… Does this new theme have anything to do with possible material that could possibly be released by a one Mr Gilmour in the future??

  7. lorraine

It does look great. Clean, uncluttered and I love the way those little chevrons in the recent posts section move one to the right when I move the mouse over them (yes, I know, simple things…). ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. LiamSch

Love the new layout, FEd. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve had a very good root around, I know how much time you spent on those old comments… (Liking the new touches to comments too, as you can see)….. ๐Ÿ˜›

    How’s Fed??

Happy New Year to you and all here in DG land…

What’s going on at Anfield?? Are we going to throw this chance away?

    Steve G is Innocent.

    Hello people,

Happy New Year to you all. Hope everything’s all well and good. Like the new changes.

Currently listening to CSNY’s Dรฉjร  Vu live. S’well good. I’d love to see David perform with them one day.

Anyways, as I’ve got nothing of any real value to say I’ll head off, do some essayage.

Oh, and my birthday’s 13th April – 22 this year. That’s no lie either.

    Hi FEd,

…..sitting here, listening the fantastic “Live in Gdansk” album, drinking the music (in case of drugs), waiting that “Gilmour will visit Germany, Concerts in Munich and Cologne ” or more……. and saying thanks God ….. he is so good….. and …… Oh Mann, der Junge versteht sein Handwerk wirklich!!

    Mach weiter so…..
    Andrea

    • FEd

Sorry to disappoint you. You know I’d love to say that David will visit Germany – and a dozen other places.

  12. Angelo Ortiz

Very nice…I see we’ve gone the way of wordpress. Good job three, Fed…I know this was quite a task…

  13. Josh

Fed, it is going to take a little used to I must admit, but I do like the emoticon selection, it’s pretty amusing. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you very much indeed, good night to you.

  14. Simon J

2009, and I hope all of you are feeling fine.

2009 has started great for me, managed to actually find a lovely little lady-friend. All’s going good, so I guess that leaves me to say the two words I am best known for saying…..

    Happy Days!

    Hopes all well, Simon J

  15. Josh

Oh, and my birthday is the 24th of August, should it be of any concern.

Thank you very much indeed, good night to you.

  16. Davie101

Wow! It’s great to have the blog back! I can’t remember the username I used to use though. It was Davie110 or Davie101… I’ll stick with 101, I guess…

Great to have you back though FEd, hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.

I’m halfway through exams right now, not so great… ๐Ÿ™

Can’t wait until 5pm Thursday though! ๐Ÿ˜€ (I’ve used my limit of emoticons now, haha!)

    • FEd

I had a lovely Christmas and New Year, thanks. Hope you did.

The best of luck with the remaining exams.

  17. Ax

    Oh I forgot…

First, can you jot down May 10 for me on the Birthday Calendar?

And, how do I get one of those neat avatars for when I post?

    • FEd

      I can.

If you go to http://www.gravatar.com, and register the e-mail address you use here, you can choose a custom avatar. It will even follow you around online, displaying itself wherever you leave a message (assuming that the site accepts gravatars, of course).

  18. MerchantOfVenus

Yes, this is much cleaner and love the additions too. Plus I like the colour blue as that’s the colour of the padded room in my current residence. 8|

And Happy New Year to one and all, my birthday is 5th April… will be 41. ๐Ÿ™

Oh well, at least I still have 42 to look forward to. 42!

  19. Jill

    Welcome back!

The holidays were fine but the best, so far, is that we have a new and shiny President who is making all the newsreaders sort of twitchy. That’s really like a bonus for me, almost as nice as when my neighbor scraped his “My dingo is smarter than your president” bumper sticker off on January 21st.

My birthday is October 17th. Rather a long wait for cake for me.

OOOOOH, html allowed now. I can italicize!!! 8)

  20. Davie110

I was reading the FAQ and discovered how to change my Avatar… I’m not sure if it’s worked. I sure hope so. ๐Ÿ˜›

I appreciate the luck, I’ll need it!

  21. MerchantOfVenus

And btw, how I managed to get the first post 3 minutes after FEd announced on twitter, is an absolutely lovely little addon for Firefox called “Twitterfox”. It is a tiny 5mmx5mm box on the corner of your browser taskbar that pops up new twitter msgs for 3 seconds (adjustable timing). You can also click it and use the popup box to add or read messages etc. If you use Firefox and are a twitter fan its a must! 8)

  22. Marcus_Buick

Baby powder blue huh FEd? Welcome back mate, ’tis good to have you! Voted for David in the poll, had some great Holidays, and now back to the grind. I did however get my Blu-ray player up and running and was able to break it in with two full viewings of the RAH performance. Just beautiful I must say. It’s been keeping my head warm for days!

  23. Pete - Coventry

And about time too !! ๐Ÿ˜€

Happy new year everyone. Hope you are all well.

You mentioned a Fleet Foxes track in your earlier listing Fed.

I was given that album for xmas………what a delight.

Birthday, well mine is Feb 22nd. This year my age contains a big fat zero at the end.

    Cheers

  24. Bill C

New Year, New President, New Blog, with new, easy-to-read-for-my-tired-old-eyes font… This is going to be a good year!
    Cheers;
    Bill C

  25. Emiel Schuurman

Yes!!! Welcome back!! Do love the softer colours!! ๐Ÿ˜€

Put me down for the 3rd of August on the birthday calendar please, I’ll be turning 34 then.

Wasn’t your New Year’s resolution to quit your alias Fed, Fed?? LOL, the mystery remains………cheers on the great layout!!

  26. Thomas Robinson

    Hi FEd,

like the look of the new blog. There’s lots of clicky buttons to keep the five year old inside me happy which is good. Although I’ll never get my economics essay finished now…

I like the new calendar too. My birthday is 5th March and I can’t wait for it to come. But only because I’m fed up of endlessly being asked what I want for my 18th – I’m obviously not a normal teenager. Hopefully I’ll make it to the chat tomorrow so I can catch up on what everyone’s been getting up to then.

But just before I get back to work (like that’ll ever happen) I noticed that on the bottom of the post at the minute it says that there are 34 comments but I can only see 24 of them, the last of which is only 20 minutes old. Sorry if it sounds like I’m being picky but I thought you might like to know.

  27. Thomas Robinson

Ahh sorry I didn’t realise that your replies counted as separate posts.

Do the cartoon gravatar things that we get if we haven’t already got ourselves a gravatar stay the same whenever we post? I flicked through earlier replies and it seems they do which is clever. I’m not too sure what mine is though, looks a bit like a green rock with three eyes and the legs and tail of a dinosaur wearing a scarf on the top of its head. Maybe I just need to go to the opticians…

    • FEd

You look like a right diva, Thomas. If it were animated, you’d be stamping your foot and sighing dramatically, I’m sure. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you change it for something more suitable, by visiting gravatar.com, every comment you’ve ever left will be updated with the image of your choosing.

  28. Howard Bayliss

    Well Hey FED!!

Sweet new look on the blog and good as always to have you back.

    Cheers, Howard

  29. Dieter

    Hi FEd,

Good to see the blog is back. Love the new look.

My birthday is March 21st btw.

    Cheers, Dieter

  30. Marcus_Buick

Hi FEd, I just wanted to check my new avatar! Downright fun this new blog stuff is!!

  31. Calibwam

Happy new year and happy new blog!

So far this year has included a lot of school, and a lot of practice for my tryout to the Norwegian military band. But I now have a new computer (I love the Asus Eee 1000h), and I have discovered something beautiful. It’s called Spotify, and it is a music streaming program. For the people of UK it’s free, and for the rest of us (at least some countries) you have to get an invite. Although there’s no Floyd, it contains the 2-disc version of LiG, and all of Roger’s and Syd’s albums, and a lot of Floyd tributes. And it works and has good audio quality. Do check it out!

I’ll try to make the chat tomorrow. Is it still the same password as on the old blog?

    Calib

  32. Calibwam

After all that bragging about Spotify (it IS really good. Trust me!), I totally forgot my birthday.

It’s March 11, which will be my last birthday as a teenager. :!

  33. Michรจle

    Hello to everybody!

I love the new blog, very, very classy, perfect for David… and for us of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Maybe you have now square eyes, no more fingers, headaches, nightmares (well, if you have time to sleep…) and ideas of murder, but the result is worth it. Bravo.

I do like the emoticons and the avatars, ces petites bestioles rigolotes, even if I never thought of myself as a pink rabbit hidden behind a TV! :))

Only one thing, don’t want to bother you and maybe it’s just me and my ignorance, but I can’t see any photo in the previous posts (ex, ‘photo of the month’).

And now, je vous souhaite un bon dodo. You deserve a big one!

    Michรจle

PS: My birthday is September 4th.

  34. Penny

    Hey FEd;

    Great job! Welcome back. ๐Ÿ˜€

My b-day/anniversary was Dec. 2; I was 50 and we have been married for 25 years, now.

  35. Tom Byars

    Hello FEd,

Like the fresh new layout, very nice indeed. Looking forward to picking my avatar – is it easy? Been busy playing with the new puppy – I’ll send a pic if I can work out how!

Could you put my name down for the 7th of February in the birthday calendar please.

    Cheers
    Tom

  36. Tim_C

    Hello folks,

    Feeling a bit disorientated ….. ๐Ÿ˜•

No idea if my gravatar will appear …..

Otherwise nice to have you back !

  37. MerchantOfVenus

I want to see if this new Avatar thingymagij works (or I did it right, LOL).

So what have I been doing since new year (as per questions to this blog), buying LOTS of gemstones, as I sell them. So, er, anyone wanting a few Rubies, Emeralds, Diamonds, Sapphires please contact FEd who will pass your order on to me for a large commission percentage. ๐Ÿ˜•

  38. Ian Pearson

Belated Happy New Year everyone. Site looks simple but then most complicated things are! LOL. Changes are good and nothing stands still eh? ๐Ÿ˜€ Glad the graphics for “David” are still the same and “Wireman”? Keep up the good work.

    Ian

P.S. I got “Fleet Foxes” album as well for Christmas and it’s great.

P.P.S. My birthday is 10th Sept and apparently its the same date each year, clever eh?

  39. MerchantOfVenus

    I like quotes, here’s one:

What is Love? It’s probably not anything you have lost.

  40. Marcela

Hi, Fed! Love the new layout!

In January, I left Brazil and am now living in San Francisco (USA) as a grad student taking a masters degree in sports management at USF.

Last year, I got my 2nd tattoo for Pink Floyd. It’s a bracelet with the design of a keyboard with the words “The Great Gig in the Sky”. A small but sincere tribute to Rick.

BTW, my bday is April 21st. ๐Ÿ˜€

    All the best,
    Marcela

  41. Adrian J. Emond

    Hey FEd,

Loving the new look!!! BTW, my Birthday is April 10th!!

Keep the good work. It is much appreciated by all us DG fans

    -Adrian

  42. adrian kavanagh

    Happy new year all!

This is a great new look blog Fed, you have done really well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Could you put my birthday down as 26th of August please?

I`ll have to get to grips with this avatar stuff though.

    Cheers all.

  43. Herbert

    Good morning FEd!

Happy new year and good to read you again. Just coming back from work and during the trip I was wondering, which “next week” you were thinking about. 8)

The new features seem to be very nice, only the colour is a thing to get used to….

    Regards
    Herbert

  44. george

Hi Fed, by the time I get through this I might be ready for the chat room. For now I will just stay In The White Room with Black Curtains.

Is David working on anything for 2009? Of course we all hope so and know that you probably can’t tell us.

Nice job keeping the Blog fresh Fed. Later .

    George

  45. KenF

    Hi FEd,

    Good to have you back.

Your efforts have rewarded us with even greater content on this blog. The character counter is a welcome addition. I’ve still got 1327 left…

I think I’ve successfully managed to find a half decent avatar, just hope it’s uploaded OK.

  46. Penny

    FEd;

How do I get to the rest of the comments? When I scroll down they stop at #31. 8|

    Penny

    • FEd

Remember that replies to comments are counted (and, therefore, included in the total shown in brackets), but they’re not numbered. So, you could see Comments (34) up top, yet the most recent comment would still be numbered 31, because there are three replies.

By the way, you can see up to 100 comments on each page. If there are more than 100, there’ll be buttons after the 100th comment directing you to the next page.

If anyone finds the pages taking too long to load, due to the gravatars, let me know and I’ll drop 100 down to 75 or 50.

  47. Geoff Duffy (Dublin)

Great to have you back, truly missed and love the decor – very spring/summer 2009.

    Rgds Geoff Duffy (Dublin) ๐Ÿ™‚

  48. snow

    G’day FEd,

I hope you had a merry Christmas and a great new year, good to see you’re back in blue.

I’m in the land down under and I did vote in the JJJ poll, thanks for the link.

I also voted in the Hall of fame poll, DG make all the other look ordinary, IMO.

The LP pack was hard to get in Australia but I have found and paid for a set out on the bay, now just waiting for in to get delivered. DG and the crew do have many fans down hear and long time no see, not that I’m complaining.

I’ve still got a CD in each car (3), I can’t get over how good they are and how DG can make a great song better.

    Cheers,
    snow.

  49. fdhtom

Does David ever do producing for bands, or ever thought about it?

It may be a stupid question.

    Cheers
    Tom

  50. BarbaraP

Wow FEd! I was so afraid you would not be back. I even signed up for Twitter to see if you were still around. I am not sure what to do on it but I keep taking a look.

You have taught me a lot on this computer. I have even signed up for a gravatar. I hope it will work. We’ll see I guess. I like the look of all your hard work. The change is exciting.

Thanks David for keeping the blog open and thanks FEd for all things new. I might even get up early one morning and make it to a chat! The chat room looks very frightening to me though. I’ll have to think about it.

It’s good to see everyone coming back.

Oh yes, before I forget. I listened to some of the music you had listed with the links and really enjoyed them. Thank you for taking the time to add them for us.

    BarbaraP

  51. Beppo the Mime

    Hey gang / FEd,

Well, its certainly a different look (I’ve been so used to the blue background and white lettering so this might take some time to adjust to); small worries. I’m just glad this place is back!

Wow, what I’ve been doing since last year. My dog (11 yrs young) underwent spinal surgery for IVDD (intervertebral disk degeneration). He’s making a great recovery but for a while there it was touch and go. Been working hard and enjoying the hell out of Gdansk.

Funny thing about Gdansk… me and the Mrs. have been getting to the movies lately and the Dipson theaters here at home (Buffalo, NY) have been showing the adverts for Live in Gdansk before the films (it’s run on a loop, so the earlier you get there the more you see the advert repeated!) :))

Anyways, its always a kick to see Mr Gilmour get the attention he deserves, even if it’s in a cinema!!

    Great to be back, y’all!
    Dirwood

  52. frank par

You’ve been truly busy Fed, nice layout. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’ll be 54 on July 18th. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I’m sure this new look will intrigue everyone. Happy New Year! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Gabrielle, Washington State

Hi Frank! My son shares your birth date, arriving just 30 years after you. ๐Ÿ˜€

I’m curious about this reply option — wondering if it will actually respond directly to a given post if one is so inclined. I suppose I’ll find out soon enough, eh? :))

  53. wrightee

Saw Jeff Beck in Melbourne last night. At the end of the show he played Floyd for people to walk out to so I found myself drifting back to The Royal Albert Hall and May 2006 and felt that in the space of 2 1/2 years I have seen two of the greatest guitarists on the planet.

Love the new look and birthday presents should be sent on 9 March.

    Cheers
    Wrightee

  54. Ina

    Welcome back Fed!

Happy birthday to Mister Nick Mason!!!

I wish you a good start this year with you new blog!! I must get accustomed to your new design.

Of course I voted for David Gilmour.

    With best wishes from Berlin
    Ina

  55. Emilio

Hello FEd and all, very nice new blog!

Hope I’ll be more present than the last year. :v

A great hug and love to everyone.

    Ciao
    emi

    • Gabrielle, Washington State

      Emi,

You should change your avatar. I don’t think the three-armed, sprouty-headed dude in the blue button-down suit is your style at all! :))

Maybe it would be more ‘you’ if it was holding a green Strat, eh? ๐Ÿ˜›

  56. LynnR

Welcome back FEd and a happy new year to all!

I love the cool blue look and new features. Definitely worth the wait.

  57. MerchantOfVenus

Another little well known trick I did similar to the twitter thing. If you click on the “home” button at the top of this page, and drag it to your top links bar, just below where you type in webpage addresses, it stays there saying “B Home” and all you have to do is click on the “B Home” to get to the Blog. ๐Ÿ˜€

For blog junkies only, obviously. Everyone else can type in the addy or search thru their bookmarks. :))

  58. Alessandra

    Hello FEd and everybody,

First of all, Happy New Year!

I’m so happy to be here again, the new look of the blog is great!

I will miss the chat this afternoon, I hope I’ll be able to join it the next time.

If you can add it, my birthday is on 11th August.

    Ciao,
    Alessandra

  59. lorraine

That split second delay where the blog post fades in (for lack of a better description) is really nice touch.

๐Ÿ˜ I’m in denial about my birthday but it’s 20th March.

  60. Ralph

Welcome back FEd and a Happy 2009 to the Blog and everyone involved.

It looks neat. Great work, FEd. Congratulations.

I do seem to have an issue distinguishing links from plain text both in Firefox and IE. I didn’t notice at first the ‘Guitar World’ link on this page. It might just be a cosmetic matter.

Hope to catch you and the gang later today on the chat.

As for the calendar, I turned 40 last November 26th.

    Cheers from Belgium,
    Ralph

  61. IMcK

A belated Happy New Year to everybody and a Happy 65th Birthday today to Nick Mason (just in case he ever reads David’s Blog).

I emigrated to Canada from England four months ago but I’m still trying to find a job. I managed to meet with Rudders a few weeks ago, as he only lives about 3 miles from me (or should I say 5 kms now that I live in Canada). One thing the UK and Canada have in common is their use of both metric and imperial measurements – just to make sure that everybody is confused!

  62. Julie Davies

    Hi FEd,

Welcome back. A new layout to get used to. Looking good.

I have been busy looking after Imogen and still looking for a part time evening job. I cannot believe it. When I used to work full time, I used to be able to get a part time job on top at the drop of a hat but it it really really difficult at the moment. I guess I am a little out of touch when it comes to being jobless.

Oh well, I check everyday for work so the law of averages states that something will come up.

It is great being home with Imogen now.

    Best regards

    Julie

  63. ash

๐Ÿ˜• What’s all this then? Spent half an hour having a quick look around. So far, very nice Fed. ๐Ÿ˜€ Very nice to have you back.

    Hello everyone, Happy New Year!

    ash X

  64. ash

Fed, I just tried the reply button, this is a nice feature. If we want to reply to something you said to someone, how do we do that?

    ash X

    • Gabrielle, Washington State

I’m really enjoying this particular feature, along with Ash! ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s a bit twitter-ish, but with more keystrokes. I think it will encourage new dialogue and continuity between the citizens of Gilmouria. 8)

    • Jan

I guess green could suit me, especially when I think of the lucky (and beautiful) Polly married to the gorgeous David.

      Jan

    • ash

      I like your tail, Jan.

I appear to have wild staring eyes just above my teeth!

A few of us seem to have Medusa hair, hmmm. :))

    • Jan

      Ash:

I think that tail must be necessary to hold up my massive head which resembles a green M&M with one eye! Hope I don’t have nightmares.

  65. Michael Ortiz

    Hey FEd,

Blog’s looking good. Good job! I was barely getting used to that color green… hahaha! But I think this one looks a lot better.

Hmmm, as for the birthday, it’s actually tomorrow (January 28). I’m turning 29.

Anyway, once again good job on the new blog. Keep up the good work.

    Michael

  66. Anthony

Great job FEd. Such a change from ’08, and for the better, of course. I haven’t gone through all of the new bits and pieces quite yet, but I am very impressed with your diligence. You do too much for us lowly fans.

If I recall correctly, it is Nick Mason’s birthday today. Happy Birthday Nick! (Assuming I am right, of course.)

Mine, by the way, is October 2.

    Anthony

  67. KenF

    Hi FEd, ๐Ÿ˜‰

It seems my avatar has uploaded OK.

I forgot to advise you of my birthday details… 54 years young on 26th March.

Happy belated birthday greetings to that petrolheaded pensioned-off drummer person. ๐Ÿ˜›

  68. Veronica

Welcome back FEd and Happy New Year! Hope 2009 is a glorious one for all of you.

Quite an impressive work youโ€™ve done for the Blog, FEd. โ€“ Congrats.

Speaking of Guitar World, did anyone else notice that on p.91 of the January issue they promised a special on the March CD-Rom about the making of the Black Strat with David and Phil, yet my March CD is here and no such feature is on it? ๐Ÿ˜ก

    Hey Fed!

Thanks for coming back. The new appearance looks great, keep up the good work!

The March calendar is filling fast so my b-day is 3/10. I hope you can squeeze me in.

    Have a great week.

Hi FED! Glad to see this blog exists. I found it by checking out David’s MySpace page. Thanks for creating a place to interface with the public.

Since you asked, my birthday is November 3rd. I will find the calendar as I peruse your blog. Nice job by the way.

Thank you so very much for the wonderful trove of music you and your associates have given to us over the years, and my belated sympathies for your loss of Rick.

And of course, finally, Happy New Year.

    John

    Happy New Year!

I like the new look. It is easier to navigate.

I am wondering what will happen when there is no more room for new tabs. Will it just display the most recent ones?

Good to see you again. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Martin.

    • FEd

Hi Martin, thanks for the feedback.

The five most recent posts will always be shown, tabbed, on the homepage. The ten most recent are always listed on the right side of any page, under Recent Posts.

    Well, FE’d:

I am so glad you are back and good to see the rest of the bloggers still around. Not sure yet about all the changes. Need to get oriented, but as they say change is good?

Just makes me feel a bit lost at the moment. I’m sure I’ll find my way around soon.

My husband got me ‘Gdansk’ for Christmas. This really is the best thing that David has produced yet by far. The quality of the sound, the changes in some of the music, and David was really in very fine voice. I loved the new rendition of Fat Old Sun and especially the longer acoustic ending to High Hopes. The production seemed to me to be very fine and the concert itself seemed to be exceptional. I am so glad to have this especially as it was so very well done and Rick’s last.

I was also gifted with Phil Taylor’s ‘Black Strat’. So I am pretty lucky. Now to do some reading as I listen. (Think I have to return my disks though as the ending after Comfortably Numb seems to have a glitch. Hope they have extra box sets soon.)

Missed this site very much. So glad to have you back.

    All my best,
    Jan

      FE’d:

Yes, you sure are, even if you do say so yourself.

Hope you won’t be bugeyed in the morning.

By the way, bugs or some form of viruses are what our little avatars seem to represent. Very wild.

(How do I use the little faces shown on the reply section? Sorry, illiterate I am.)

    • FEd

Please click whichever one you want to use.

Upon doing so, youโ€™ll see that some additional characters (a : immediately followed by a ) to produce a smile, for example) have been added to your comment.

If you click on any of the faces, youโ€™ll notice the keys that make up its unique expression.

Youโ€™ll soon learn how to quickly create each emotion from your keyboard without even realising it.

OK, so I’ve noodled around a bit and made a few posts already. So a few comments.

I do like the look and ease of readability. Very clean. Easy on the eyes, like Shania Twain.

I also like the approach you’re taking with launching strings that may not have to do with anything new to David. Unfortunate but I’m sure that when new stuff is on the way, then it will be addressed properly right here. Until then, musings are great.

Now, I do think though, that since this blog is going the way that many others do, I think it will also be a bit more challenging in keeping up with the posts of what is new, where there was a reply, etc. etc. I have actually been discouraged by other blogs in this format as it just gets overwhelming. So we’ll see.

One item that threw me off at first. I actually wrote an entry that got lost because of the boxes above the input box. On my systems it shows one box where inside it says Name (required) and then next to that box it says E-mail (required) and then a box below. Well at first I clicked on the top box and the name disappears and you only see E-mail. So I typed in e-mail and then my name in the box below. Well that doesn’t work. So maybe you could adjust the formatting to make it clearer as to what goes where? Am I making sense? Anyone else notice that?

For the record, my day is March 29, just a day before Eric Clapton but he is a bit older than I am as well as much more adept at guitar.

    Thanks.

    Andrew

Hi all, and a big well done to FEd for such a nice new look to The Blog. Good stuff! Nice, smooth transitions, and looks like it might be an easy platform for all you’ve got planned over the coming months.

FWIW my birthday is May 15th. Beers are on me that day! ๐Ÿ˜€

    • Andrew

If it was literally, then it would be a wet T-shirt contest. Do we really want to see Matt Johns in a wet t-shirt??

      Thanks.

I just had my birthday Saturday.

My apologies if I had been absent from blogs. I have been busy with moving and celebrating my birthday. Had an ice cream cake as always (I used Genesis’ Duke on the cake design as in years past I had Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall album sleeves on previous ice cream cakes).

Oh by the way, my birthday is 12th of August!!

    See ya! ๐Ÿ˜€

    Hello,

So glad to see things are up and running again – for me as well, my modem was out all last week. The new blog looks great. Even though it usually takes me a while to get used to changes, the info, buttons, etc. are well organized and easy to navigate. Great job FEd, all your hard work really shows.

Thanks also for the chat – I look forward to joining in soon.

Cool calendar – my birthday is March 9th – the big 4-0 this year, hope to spend it in Vegas, baby!

    Take care. CT
