Photo of the month

Bev's cats, Suzie and BlackieI’m sure you can think of some captions for this one. (Well, you did ask for more cats…)

Meet Bev’s darlings, Suzie and Blackie.

I don’t know why they’re printing out photos of David. If the ladies call themselves ‘Gilmourettes’, maybe they just wanted to get in on the act as ‘Gilmourauders’. You know what cats are like.

And just look at Suzie’s eyes. An evil genius if ever I saw one.

Thanks for sharing, Bev.

The chatroom is open between 16:00 and 18:00 (UK) today.

If you missed David on BBC Radio 2 last night, you can – hopefully – listen again here or here. Comments about the programme to be left at the previous post, please.

  1. Hi,

    Thanks for posting this.

By the way, in this photo David and John (the professor) look the most alike.

  2. Hello Fed!

David on German TV on December 31, 2008

At 3sat (3sat broadcasts mainly cultural programming, the channel’s operational centre is based at ZDF) from 11.15 to 12.15 o’clock (MEZ) to be announced David Gilmour “Live in Gdansk” in line with the telecast “Pop Around the Clock”.

As you know via Satellite viewers in many countries of Europe can receive this channel.

    Best Regards from Berlin

    [Thank you, Ina. – FEd]

  3. Evil genius, LOL! All cats are evil.

    Nice photo Bev.

Haven’t heard last night’s programme yet.

  4. Forgive me FED for posting this off topic question but that Hendrix chat last week made me wonder:

We know Hendrix loved Pink Floyd. Paul and Ringo have both recorded with Gilmour and apparently Gilmour jammed with George so we know the Beatles liked Gilmour and Floyd (come to think of it Paul even saw them at the UFO–so did Townshend). Mick Jagger and company used Pink Floyd’s stage for one of their tours (so Mick must have watched the Floyd and been impressed).

So–in the Pantheon of the greatest–that leaves Bob Dylan. Has Dylan ever commented publicly on Pink Floyd or Gilmour or specifically about Syd Barrett’s “Bob Dylan Blues?” I’ve never read or heard anything…

[I remember reading that he liked ‘The Dogs of War’, but that’s the only thing I can think of. – FEd]

  5. So cats love David’s music… I always knew that. 😀

Oh and Here I Go… Would be so great if David included it in his setlist in the future.

  6. Cool Cats or should that read Cool for Cats.

Loved the Radcliffe & Maconie show, thought David sounded very at ease, more so than Mark Radcliffe.

I was interested to hear David say that he picks up a guitar every day, that must make packing for family holidays interesting.

  7. Hello FED, finally a picture of two cats. One named Pink and the other named Floyd. By the way, which one is Pink? The black one of course.

I love it, nice photo Bev.

  8. Nice photo, Bev.

All cats are evil geniuses? No! Does mine look evil? (Click my name.) He can’t be evil, he is such a big David fan…

But Cachou is a genius, yes. 🙂

[He’s cute… and loving that tote bag, I’m sure. – FEd]

  9. Add one more cat and you have 3 cool cats.

Finally, a place to rant about our fallen and shameful governor of Illinois, Rod Blago.

You big fat cat yet, low rent bastard. As if times are not hard enough, you go and try to scam us taxpayers out of large sums of money while you tarnish the office that we trusted you to. Scamming a childrens’ hospital?!? What a slippery person. The soap will be just that much harder to hold in the prison showers. And he thinks us taxpayers reamed him out.

‘And do you feel abused? You’re nearly a laugh but you’re really a cry.’ Insert David Gilmour solo. ‘The dogs are dead… Every fool knows a dog needs a home, a shelter from pigs on the wing.’

[He was elected on a promise to end government corruption, I see. You’ve got to laugh. – FEd]

  10. Cute cats, Bev! Thank you for posting this cute photo.

Cats are evil, but it can be deliciously entertaining sometimes too. Ha!

  11. That’s rare having a ginger cat that’s female. My pure ginger cat, Archie, is obviously a boy cat.

All ginger cats I have encountered in my life have been male.

Tell me, is your ginger cat, mean? My Archie certainly is, he’ll scratch us to bits if we pet (stroke) him anywhere beside the head. When he is outside in the garden he sometimes lunges at me when I am gardening as if to say: “Get off my property”. I love him to bits though.

My other cat, Suze, is the total opposite. She loves nothing more than sitting on my lap and being stroked. And she always follows me to the shop, waits and then follows me back home.

    I love cats.

    Great photo, Bev.

    Best regards.

  12. I just can’t get over the beautiful cats. 🙂 Super cute again! Bev, just say Hi to the cats for me. LOL.

Anyway, I stop by to say hello to all of the bloggers and to you FEd. 🙂 Have a nice beautiful day!

Unfortunately, I won’t be joining the Chatroom on Friday as I’m going for a few days of holidays. I’ve already set up some list of songs to be played while I’m at the sandy beaches for sure! 🙂

Just as what Ax told me yesterday, playing DSOTM & Echoes over and over again will make me feel alive (rock my soul), and some Surfin USA and Kokomo maybe. 😉

And again, for the thousandth time, thanks David for your music!

See you all on Tuesday I hope. Enjoy everyone!

    Take Care. Peace.

    [Enjoy yourself, Zureen. – FEd]

  13. All Cats are Evil or can be “doctored” up to look that way…

    Click my name.

[Just think how much fish that cat could enjoy with one hundred billion dollars. – FEd]

  14. We thought the interview on Radio 2 the other night was brilliant. Full marks for playing Echoes in its entirety and once again David gives us a treat by performing another Syd Barrett song.

Although he says he will never play Echoes again without Rick its nice to know that he still wants to go on playing anyway….I still bawl my eyes out over Rick everytime he plays High Hopes!

Thanks Fed for keeping us posted on all this.

Have a good weekend one and all..I have seen the 5 disc set on sale HMV Oxford Street, Kingston and Croydon and especially after all the plugs it got the other night hopefully the stores will have it next time….if you are in the Kingston branch looking for Genesis it will be on the floor as I put Live in Gdansk along the front row….pride of place where it belongs!

  15. I’m slapping my forehead, but here:

CAPTION 1: David Gilmour-The Cats’ Meow

CAPTION 2: Fender’s Signature Series “Gilmour Cat Strats” were non-starters…

CAPTION 3: (I can’t write this one with young eyes about and without offending our female friends)

  16. We have two budgies, but would prefer a cat. The combination might be a little difficult though.

On the other hand, if we get a cat in, that might help solve the issue of the budgies…

    Or would that be evil?

[That would be evil, Ralph. But you’d probably only be a One or Two according to Dr Stone. – FEd]

  17. Nothing wrong with cats that an expanse of water, a cloth sack and some heavy weights wouldn’t put right…

    Woof, Woof…

[Another evil one, I see. – FEd]

  18. Is that the David Gilmour Signature Black Cat?

Actually, I saw a black cat in Phil’s book “The Black Strat” (second page)!

Cheers everyone and have a nice weekend!

  19. Listened again to the R and M show today. I appreciate David telling the audience more about what happened to Rick and the cancer.

I thought the interview on Astoria was much better than the Jools show. Enjoyed the Syd Barrett song AND hearing “Echoes” in toto.

Thanks for the comments about Suzie and Blackie. Suzie is a ginger cat and she acts the part. She can be a real character at times. Blackie is just very laid back. They would love a Gilmour Black Cat Strat for Christmas. Hint, hint, wink, wink. Hey, Blackie IS black after all.

  20. [Mick Jagger and company used Pink Floyd’s stage for one of their tours (so Mick must have watched the Floyd and been impressed). – Dr Rock]

Which reminds me of possibly one of the greatest chat room debates of all time: Did Mick Jagger base his pout on David’s?

  21. David’s got the cat’s eyes.

Happy anniversary F’Ed and everybody @

Hope you keep up the great work for many more years to come!

    Tom B

    [Thanks, Tom. – FEd]

  22. Suzie: Lucifer Sam? Wow, that’s going back a bit, but yeah, I remember him.
Blackie: Always sitting by somebody’s side wasn’t he?
    Suzie: Always. By their side.
Blackie: Never could explain that. Anyway, fancy a budgie?

    Best Wishes,

  23. Two absolutely lovely cats. True Gilmour Fans as well!

    “Feline Frenzy over David Gilmour”
    “Laid Back Relaxed Gilmour Cats”

  24. Nice photo and cute cats!

Well FEd I perfectly understand why the ladies call themselves “Gilmourettes”….

A good looking older man with and exquisite talent for guitar playing, which woman isn’t devoted to David??? 😉

  25. Dogs vs Cats… Just to resume the situation (click my name). 😉

Evil cat, yes, but…hmm…how could we describe the dog?

[With a name like Chudleigh, ‘pompous and spoilt’? But cute with it. Merci. – FEd]
