More indie stores

The 'Wot's... Uh The Deal' CD, exclusive to independent music stores in the States

A few more independent music stores now, for those of you hoping to get your hands on a ‘Wot’s…’ CD.

I mentioned Shake It Records (of Cincinnati, Ohio) earlier this week. Here are some more of their prices: two-disc, $16.99; three-disc, $33.99; four-disc, $41.99.

Shipping anywhere outside the US is a flat rate of $7.95, within the US is just $2.80. The first 40 orders will get the bonus CD, so be quick.

Bull Moose Music has ten stores scattered across Maine and New Hampshire. They won’t ship the ‘Wot’s…’ CD, as they’re saving those for store customers, but do have a look at where you can find them, if a visit is possible.

Their prices, at least for the first week, are as follows: two-disc, $12.97; three-disc, $25.97; four-disc, $35.97; vinyl, $89.98.

The Electric Fetus (with three locations in Minnesota) can take online orders, for your
convenience. Their prices are $18.99, $33.22 and $47.47. International postage is $6.75.

Looney Tunes of West Babylon, New York have prices of $19.98, $34.98, $49.98 – and $108.98 for the vinyl set. All can be shipped internationally, so contact them for a quote.

Just to remind you – and I’m sorry if it’s getting boring – that the five-disc deluxe set is only available at Best Buy in the States. So, if you ask any store in the US to get you a five-disc set, you will likely be offered an import from Europe. This will be a lot more expensive than getting one from Best Buy, and you still won’t get a ‘Wot’s…’ CD thrown in.

Indie stores may well stock all versions, except for the five-disc deluxe. However, you only get ‘Wot’s…’ on CD if you buy a CD set; the vinyl box set does not count, apparently.

  1. Hey F’Ed,

I like the nice yellow new look. Not that there was anything wrong with the way the Blog looked before, but the yellow is brighter and more bold, like a nice new paint job.

    My compliments.

    [Thank you, Dan. – FEd]

  2. If I can’t get 5 discs by 23rd of Sept. then I’ll wait for the package later and not watch any more tidbits til I’m ready to have my say.

  3. Holy..!! What happened to the blog????? It hurts my eyes!!!

So if I ordered a double CD set, they’ll automatically include the Wot’s CD, right?

[You might want to e-mail them to check, making it clear that you’re ordering just to get the bonus CD (because I can’t do anything about it if they don’t), but that’s the idea. The same goes for the three-disc and four-disc versions. Please do appreciate that these are often small stores and they won’t have a huge supply of any item because it simply wouldn’t be practical to. – FEd]

  4. When you read about Raymond’s “loss” you realise that in truth we don’t need any extras with any live releases and should be grateful for what we have. Love hurts but never disappears; if it never hurt, then it ain’t love.

I have ordered a 5 disc version from Amazon, presumably with no extras but “wot’s….uh (THAT’S) the deal”. I can listen to that on OBC.

If one believes that there is no such thing as bad publicity only no publicity is bad then continued feedback about this latest 27 CD/DVD/vinyl/cassette/8-track/optical disc/download etc…from David must mean record companies have achieved their objective and should be congratulated, as I am sure their share holders are very pleased.

Is it me or has everyone got a green background and yellow in boxes? I like it.

[Thank you, Ian. Beautifully put, as always. – FEd]

  5. Can I just go for the obvious (to me anyway) here… Why not just release ‘Wot’s…’ as a single?

I’m buying the 5 disc set but I’d happily buy that on top.

Profits could always be donated to a homeless charity. I think it really lends itself to that.

  6. Only 1 Wes Brown!!!!

[Couldn’t have happened to a nicer Man(c). I’m so glad it was one of the local lads. – FEd]

  7. And I thought I work long hours! FEd, you top it… how dedicating, thank you for the updates.

The date is getting closer and I am getting more and more restless but excited; just like the new color theme on the Blog, full of excitement in anticipating of the new release.

  8. Dear David,

I’ll most certainly be buying the set this month. I can’t wait to see the DVD though, since I’ve never had the opportunity to see you play in person.

I’ve left comments here ocassionally asking you to come back to the US for one more performance. My boyfriend and I would love to see you in concert!

Hope to see you tour again!

  9. I have pre-ordered the deluxe 5 disc set.

HOW DO I GET “Wot’s… Uh The Deal”? I love that song, and feel totally discriminated against. I am in the UK.

  10. Hello Fed, nice job on the new look of the blog.

Hope you’re having a good weekend and like everyone else can’t wait for this live collection of this music, especially OAI as good as the CD of the live versions of the album are brilliant.

  11. Hey Fed, I am a new(ish) to this blog and I am guessing you are a Liverpool fan? Great result today, love any team to get one over them!!!

Having said that you were lucky against the Boro the other week!!! (My team if you can’t guess!!!)

Back on topic, I am really struggling to find any retailer on the high street to pre-order deluxe set, as I don’t want to pre order via internet as not sure of delivery.

I tried Borders, HMV, Zavvi and WH Smith. Anyone know of any retailer taking pre-orders as I fear the deluxe set won’t make it on the shelf on the release date of the average shop???

Great work by your goodself BTW, this is a great resource!!! You got yourself another regular hooked!!!

    Regards from sunny Middlesbrough,

[Hi Darran, thanks for the kind words (and I have to say, you’re right about the Middlesbrough result). I don’t think anyone has mentioned pre-ordering from high street retailers in the UK, now that you mention it. It all seems to be online. Do check the post we had a few weeks back for best prices (click your name above), just in case. Can anyone add anything to this? – FEd]

  12. Dear beloved member of the great Floyd.

I’ve been a fan ever since I first heard your music. I love everything from Piper to Obscured By Clouds, from The Wall to Division Bell… from Wish You Were Here to Wish You’d Get Off That High Horse.

How selfish and pompous must you be to rob all us music lovers of our one true love? Pure unadulterated Pink Floyd.

The fact that you would say “I will never reunite with Floyd again” is an insult to all us who love your music and essentially gave you what you have.. Because we listened, you play music for a living. Have some reverence, some humility.. And think about us. The fans.

Now don’t get me wrong, you’re still the man. But be a man. Be an example that life isn’t about petty squabbles. It’s about love, life and music. You rock.

    Good luck.

[Find a new love, Justin, and stop living in the past. Move on. If you can’t do that, stop boring us with your self-interested, narrow-minded whining. Life’s not about petty squabbles, but neither is it about doing something that makes you unhappy. Read between the lines: Live8 wasn’t an enjoyable experience and David’s last tour was far more pleasurable and rewarding than many a Floyd tour. How very selfish of you to think that the members of Pink Floyd should keep performing just for you, just because you bought a few of their records. How very rude to use David’s blog – which he reads, by the way – to tell him what he should do, then tag on some token compliment at the end to make it all better. You’re the kind of fan that Roger spat at. – FEd]

  13. Hey there!

I haven’t been here in a while, I always read but life is a bit hectic at the moment and I never really have time to leave a comment… a smart one that is. Anyone can write a quick note saying nothing!

Anyway, FEd, I was just reading the newspapers of my home country, Argentina, and I found a new article with Phil Manzanera (whom apparently gave the interview in fluid Spanish) about the release of Live in Gdansk, his relationship with DG, his role in OAI…some about Roxy music and his near future plans.

I know, it is in Spanish…but I guess there are many fans out there checking the blog whom speak Spanish. I could translate it if you’d like but you gotta give me time for that.

Click my name. Maybe it can be added to the Press section.

Hope everything is all right with you and the big fan family.

    Good luck..

[Thank you, Mariana. Press from all around the world is always very welcome. – FEd]

  14. Hi FEd,

Ten days and counting til CD comes out. I’m anxious to see and hear it. Will be a fantastic return home present for me, myself and I!!!!!

  15. Yeah! I like the new look, Fed.

Oh by the way, I was talking to my retired neighbour about music & the fact he has just started learning to play guitar.

Anyway I ended up lending him “Remember That Night”, he returned it a few day later saying how brilliant it was.

I told him he could borrow it any time, just to ask. He said it was so good he was going to buy his own copy.

I also told the neighbour about Live in Gdansk coming out too.

[Spread the good word, Graham. I’m glad he liked it. – FEd]

  16. I’m not too sure about the colour scheme, maybe it’ll grow on me, but thanks again for promoting the indie stores FEd.

[Always happy to, Bobby. More to come throughout the week. – FEd]

  17. Change is nice!

Only eight more days, and I will have my beautiful 5 disc set.

Thanks for putting those “bad” fans in their place. I heartfully respect David’s decision about not playing with Floyd again, but I would never, as I think no other on this blog would, say “No thank you” to another Floyd-album and tour.

But my deepest thanks is sent to David for doing all he can for his fans by keeping this blog, and releasing this sick package that’s getting released NEXT MONDAY!!!

BTW: are there any chats scheduled?

[Not yet, but that may change as the week goes on. – FEd]

  18. Hello, Fed and friends.

I thought I’d let you know that I tried to get tickets online for the premiere of ‘Live in Gdansk’, but it’s impossible. Fandango keeps telling me that it’s not playing in my area.

I called the theater directly and the manager was not very confident in telling me that they would be showing it, but they haven’t posted it nor have they advertised it.

    Does that sound right?

I don’t think I like the way David’s promotion is handled in the US. Seems like things are set up and then someone drops the ball and let’s it roll any which way the wind blows.

We need posters to go round pasting up, especially in the indie stores!

Just my 2 cents worth of hot air.

[I’ll be in trouble again if I give you mine, but I can’t get the words ‘arse’ and ‘elbow’ out of my head for some strange reason. Thanks for the feedback, Melissa. I’ll update you as soon as possible. (Which cinema is it? Maybe the manager just needs shouting at.) – FEd]

  19. I really like the new look. The colours are fresh and fun!

I’m also very tempted to order the 2-CD from one of the indie stores listed just to get that bonus disc. I’m not sure that eBay will be cheaper and don’t want to wait and then miss out. A download is not the same as having it on CD.

Thanks for the warm welcome the other day FEd.

Hope you had a good weekend. My better half is a Red, so he sends his regards!

[A great weekend, thanks – as I’m sure you had. Saw a Beatles tribute last night. They were very good. I was hoping that they’d mention the day’s glorious football result at least once, being Scousers, but no. Still, they did several songs from ‘Beatles for Sale’, so I forgave them. – FEd]

  20. Hey FEd, I want to ask you… Live in Gdansk have orchestra right?

All the show will have? Or only On An Island and the other songs later in the First Set?

[Not all the songs, just ‘On An Island’ and, I think it was, ‘A Great Day For Freedom’ and ‘High Hopes’. – FEd]

  21. Fed,

It’s the Carmike Wynnsong 16, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

About the photo with which Fandango are using for advertisement, it’s not good quality at all. It looks like a bootleg!

It’s very disappointing, and I know it’s not your job to see about such things, but you have always shown a great deal of pride and respect in regards to David’s image, so I figured you would want to see for yourself (click my name).

    Maybe I’m overreacting?

I’m gonna go sleep on it and see how I feel about it in the morning.

[Thanks for that. I’d have to agree: it looks like a rush job and David deserves better. – FEd]

  22. Hey Fed,

Good one by the Reds eh? The Dutchies were in shape again I heard.

Any chance Europe will be able to buy the Wot’s single somewhere (a physical one I mean, not a download)? Maybe a raffle or something??

    Cheers mate!!

[I expect you’ll find some on eBay before too long. (And yes, Dirk works as hard as ever for the team.) – FEd]

  23. [How very rude to use David’s blog – which he reads, by the way – to tell him what he should do, then tag on some token compliment at the end to make it all better. You’re the kind of fan that Roger spat at. – FEd]

Go FEd!!! I’ve been waiting to see a famous FEd put down!

How I laughed when you asked someone if they expected David to visit their house with a cumbus and tell them through the medium of song that you’d started taking pre-orders!

If you need a laugh today, click my name.

[Ah yes, from back in the day when I wasn’t too lazy to sign off as ‘Features Editor’. – FEd]

  24. I’ve also enjoyed catching up on the famous FEd put downs! I needed a laugh this week after the horrible news of Richard’s death.

My favourite was this gem of a response to someone called Zardana who was blaming David because she had taken her daughter to see a tribute band thinking it was the real deal and thought that entitled her to win a T-shirt:

“No, what your daughter really needs is a more observant parent.”

Laughed my socks off at that! Sure, it’s what we were all thinking, but I didn’t think you’d say it!

[The stupidity and nerve of some people never ceases to amaze me. – FEd]

  25. Necesito saber si david tiene prevista alguna gira por sudamérica, más especificamente por argentina. Somos muchos fanáticos que lo estamos esperando por estas latitudes.

Por favor que alguien me conteste gracias, gracias.

[There is no plan to tour South America, sorry. – FEd]

  26. Live in Gdansk… maravilhoso, como tudo que voce faz… se resume em perfeição e inovação.

Fico feliz por sua consciencia ambiental… Nosso planeta pede socorro…

Não pode mais suportar tantos mals tratos humanos.
