Pigalle winner

Well done, Tom Byars.

You’ve just won yourself a pair of tickets to see Guy Pratt at Picadilly’s Pigalle Club on Wednesday night (or, if you can’t make it, a paperback copy of Guy’s book instead).

If you can make it, have a great night, and do let us know how it goes.

Thanks again to Guy for his continued generosity towards our little community.

To those who visited the chatroom today, as well as the (Ir)regular bunch who have been making use of it for quite some time now, the chatroom will be open all weekend. Check your e-mail for the password.

Sadly, the chatroom cannot be left open all weekend to every Tom, Dick and Harry – for obvious reasons. If you’d like to get your name on the invite list, please try to make it to a future chat session. Everyone’s very friendly and the chatroom is really easy to use. We’d love to see you.

Basically, you just need to show that your intention is not to muck about, then you’re in.

You’re now able to see who is in the chatroom at any given time over there, on the right, so be sure to keep one eye on that area – and drop by, if you fancy a natter.

Thanks again for the kind words this week. It’s good to be back.

Have a good weekend, everyone.

  1. Well done Tom

    I did check my email…and nothing…:-(

    Tom, Dick and Harry 😉

[Please check again. Several e-mails have been bouncing back to me today, so I’ve just sent the password to you again. The same applies to anyone who usually receives the password, but hasn’t received it today. – Features Editor]

  4. Congrats Tom say hi to Guy!!

I love all the weird renditions of pink floyd and DG songs on the website there really cool!!

    glad the blog is back!!!

  5. Just checked my email and nothing is there. No invite to the chatroom. It’s a fun chatroom and I miss all the good people I’ve met there. (Come to think of it, I also miss all the not-so-good people I’ve met there.)

Anyway, it seems that for some reason I’m no longer on your chat room’s list of email addresses. Can you add me to this list again?

[You’ll have to give me an alternative e-mail address, I’m afraid. I’m having trouble with several addresses, yours being one of them. – Features Editor]

  6. Nearly forgot… Yesterday I googled the Pigalle Club. Found video of its interior (like something from a John Waters flick), several reviews of its restaurant (common theme: the reviewers disliked the neighborhood), and a picture of a drag queen performing there.

Seems like a place so tacky, it’s just gotta be cool!

  7. They’re baaccckkkk….

Hello Fellow Irregulars, F.Ed, David et all – what a pleasant surprise this am to find the Blog up and running.

Hope 2008 is treating everyone kindly so far.

Looking forward to catching up with you all in the chatroom soon.

    Cheers !

    Nisha

  8. Well done, Tom, I am very happy for you!

Thanks to you, Guy, for giving David’s fans the opportunity to enjoy your show/book.

Always a great pleasure to read you on the blog!

  9. Well done, Tom.

    Well Tim C (and FEd),

The Pigalle topic is closed and I wil put in my Igglepiggle version here, if you really want to hear it.

    A multi-facted artist named Guy,
proposed to stand up at Pigalle.
But what an animal he was to try,
and steal the blanket from Igglepiggle.

So there you go. As you can see, I watch Ceebeebies a lot with my daughter.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

    Best regards.

    Julie

  10. For all of you out there lucky enough to be Welsh… a very happy St. David’s Day to you all…

  11. I wanted to share something that is going on in the NY area.

Local NY radio station is doing their annual charity raise up over the next month or so. Well they got Storm Thorgerson to design the logo for the event and there are several items that you can purchase with that logo on it. Click my name and go to the Merch Store. Sorry, I have no idea if they will do international shipping. In any case it is a good cause.

Also, for the record, I too didn’t get any e-mail for the chat. Hope I am not one that was banned.

    Thanks.

    Andrew

[No, I just haven’t been able to reach you, sorry. Several e-mails have been bouncing back to me all weekend. Please let me know an alternative, should the problem persist. – Features Editor]

  14. Congratulations Tom! So you’re a new blogger? Well welcome to our crazy world! (crazy in a good way)

    Hope you enjoy the prize!

And I finally know how to say Pigalle now!

    Cheers

    K.C.

  15. Fed, I’m not sure if this comment should be posted, but I have a question…what exactly is this?

I hope you can check the link…Is this official (which I doubt)?

[Well, I don’t know if David approves of it as such, but it’s one in a series of books on sale at respectable retailers. A glorified version of the tab you find in all the guitar magazines, I expect: one person’s interpretation, bundled together with David’s picture on the front and a price tag on the back. Not exactly official, but allowed. – Features Editor]

  16. The last two months without the Blog were seemingly quiet and boring at times in our household. I started reading Guy Pratt’s “My Bass and Other Animals” again which I enjoyed very much the first time around.

Thankfully, there had been updated news on the homepage and the entertaining polls by FEd. Much appreciated all these nice gestures to keep our spirit going.

  17. Hey FEd, just finished watching “I’m not there”. Strange! Surreal and fascinating, but not the typical biopic. It’s not easy for me to say if it is a good portrait of Dylan. I will wait for you seeing it, to listen to my Dylan’s teacher opinion!

    Have a nice evening!

[It certainly looks a bit strange. – Features Editor]

Ahh yea, and the fact that I heard Guy actually say the word. Pig al. But I agree that are many ways to say it! 😀

[That’s the fun of it. You can’t do more than try, after all. – Features Editor]

  19. Well done Tom, enjoy your prize

Thanks, Rudders, I hope you all have had a fantastic St David’s day

  20. Spare a thought…

The amazing Canadian guitarist Jeff Healey passed away Sunday evening – he lost his life long fight with cancer. He was 41…

For those of you who may not know him he was blind from the age of 1 and played his guitar on his lap. He was the leader of the house band in the Patrick Swayze film, Roadhouse…

    Jeff Healey RIP…

  21. Bummer on hearing that Jeff Healey passed away. Always liked him and admired a person who was able to achieve without letting something get in the way.

    Thanks.

    Andrew

  22. Tom,

Way to go – our man from the street.

    Julie,

    It was worth the wait!

  23. Damn, I said a “A multi-facted artist” I should have said “A multi-faceted artist”. I always make typos online. No matter how many times I proofread what I type, I cannot see my errors. Aaarrggh.

Does anybody else suffer from this? I think I shall have to get my eyes re-tested.

[Well, I missed it. My apologies, Julie. – Features Editor]
