Latin American delays

February, 2007: Jamming at David's Barn. Photo: Polly Samson.I regret to inform you that the scheduled release of ‘Remember That Night’ in both Brazil and Mexico has been delayed.

It should have been released on Wednesday in Brazil. It’s now out on Monday 15 October instead.

The planned release for Mexico – Monday 8 October – unfortunately cannot be met due to an issue with the DVD’s packaging. I’ll have a new date for you – on our calendar – just as soon as possible.

Apologies to disappointed fans in Brazil and Mexico.

There is no confirmed date as yet for Chile, but the DVD is now available in Argentina. Again, as soon as I hear from Sony and can give you more information, I’ll update you.

The winners in our latest contest are Andrew and Ax (who each win the exclusive ‘Remember That Night’ DVD set from Borders, with poster), Adriano and Michael (who each win the Best Buy equivalent, complete with bonus AOL Sessions CD), and Craig (who wins a five-track promo CD, as issued to US radio stations in the run-up to the DVD’s release).

The winning captions can be seen at the foot of this page.

Congratulations to all five of you, and thanks to everyone who submitted a caption. Choosing the five best ones was easier than picking out three, as originally planned.

Thanks also to everyone who sent in kind words about our DMA win, plus birthday greetings. Your support is always greatly appreciated.

The latest country to propel ‘Remember That Night’ to the top of its Music DVD chart is Denmark.

It has also reached the Number One spot in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, Sweden, the UK and the US, but appears to have peaked at #3 in Holland, #2 in Ireland and #6 in Spain.

I’ve got a real treat for some of you on Monday, so don’t miss it.

Until then, have a very good weekend.

  1. Congrats to A, A, A, M and C!

[We’ve got a real treat for some you on Monday, so don’t miss that – F*ED]

    Some? Hmmm? I’m intrigued…

Have a great extended birthday weekend F*Ed!

    Cheers!

  2. Congrats to the winners!

Hey now, I was brushing away suspicions as all these jamming pictures came in, but now we have this one in a seemingly different ‘Chateau Gilmour’ location ….hmmmm.

Nice podcast interview in the press section by the way.

  3. Just to let you know RTN is 39th in PLAY.com’s top selling DVDS, but i’m not sure what time-span the chart covers, i think it’s more than a week, so it’s doing very well.

Pity there was nothing in some of the papers about it. The Daily Mail didn’t pick up on the DVD release, premiere or even its chart successes, and it spends most of its time saying that there aren’t any good DVDs being released!

Could i also ask if anyone has any problems with the chatroom? My computer tells me that i need to install a java download but when i click on it the download freezes and nothing happens. (I thought vista was meant to be an improvement but it seems you have to download a lot of updates and new software to get things to run properly.)

Keep up the good work, can’t wait to find out the surprise. Have a good weekend.

[The same to you, Thomas. Sorry to hear of your Java problem. If you click your name below, then the green button, you can check that you have the recommended version installed. Not sure if that’s any help. Either way, we look forward to seeing you in the chatroom soon. – Features Editor]

  4. [Hey now, I was brushing away suspicions as all these jamming pictures came in, but now we have this one in a seemingly different ‘Chateau Gilmour’ location ….hmmmm.]

I think it’s the end of the Barn where Richard has to pull pints.

  5. Yea, I agree that Java is pretty tricky. My computer goes haywire in other ways.

One of these days, I’m going to cut you in to little pieces. Of course the words are slurred by Nick Mason on that interesting piece of music.

    Have a great weekend FED.

  6. Congratulations to the winners(Fed when will I win something??)!

Have a nice weekend everyone, full of love of dvds and alcohol;)

    ciao

  7. HI.

I want to tell you that “Remember that night” is at the music stores here in Argentina. I think it was released last week. I bought it last September 20th, and soon after that it appeared in the bigger stores .

  12. I hope this is the correct place.

Cori’s mum, Beryl here on Cori’s phone, just to say Cori has come through her operation and the tumour removed benign, with root just above the brain so penetrative cutting into the actual brain did not have to take place afterall.

Cori remained awake throughout the operation but when she came more lucid said ‘tell David and Fed’. I know she thinks a lot of you.

I am hoping to bring her home to her house in Nottingham on Sunday.

    With best wishes.
    Beryl

  19. Congrats to the winners!!! Isn’t it fun to win? There were SO MANY GOOD captions!!

FEd, I hope your birthday bowling was superb, and that you had at least a ‘few’ pints on your 29th Birthday. Or was it 21st?? Anyway, I hope it was a good one!!

And congrats again to FEd, ‘Jabeye’, David & Staff for having the BEST web-site and winning the BEST MUSIC BLOG AWARD!!!!

[Thank you, it was very… entertaining, but it was neither my 29th or my 21st. – Features Editor]

  20. I was on my way here to share with you that some friends have already seen the DVD in Argentina.. but of course you knew that already 🙂 Too bad about the delays elsewhere…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, FEd! Did you have a nice time? got lots of presents? Hope you did…

Congrats to everyone that won…they really look like holograms! that made me laugh outloud!

The Barn pics are really great. I love the barn itself, all that wood! we have something similar here at home and still working to insulate the roof with grass and flowers…that will be a sight!

Anyway, Have a nice weekend everyone!

  21. Wow! I WON! YeeeeeHawwwww!

    […]

Thanks for that, mates! (I feel a little odd accepting something from you, FEd. When it is your birthday! Enjoy your weekend!)

[Thanks very much. Hope you like your prize. – Features Editor]

  22. Hi Fed,

Hope you had a good birthday, and it wasn’t spoiled by Marsielle!?

Congrats to the winners… The image of El Magnifico jumping out in a cape did tickle me!

Hmm… Monday eh? Some of us eh? Maybe you are the Riddler to El Magnifico’s Batman, Fed?! 🙂

    Cheers, Jon

  23. Thanks for the prize Fed and your continuing efforts!

The last time I won a contest was in 7th grade when I wore a t-shirt with a pack of smokes rolled up in the sleeve for “fifties day”.

Congrats to the other winners and to all for the great posts day after day.

    -Craig

    Address is as follows: […]

[I’m loving that image, Craig. We should start having themed days here. – Features Editor]

  24. Clearly Fed, you abide by the maxim of “always leave them wanting more…”

Masterfully done as always, I can’t wait to see what wonderful little tidbit you have in store for us this time.

thank you very much indeed, good night to you

  25. I just got back from Best Buy, where I was informed that Remember That Night had been recalled. No word on whether it was only Best Buy’s DVDs or any others that were recalled, and my source was just an employee on the floor, so don’t take this as 100% confirmed.

Here’s hoping that the replacements will also include the bonus AOL Sessions CD.

[All Best Buy stores have been informed that a manufacturing defect appears on some copies of disc one. Customers who return their DVDs should keep the three-track CD. They will be given the non-exclusive version of the DVD as a replacement. – Features Editor]

  26. Watched the new DVD last night. another great setup from David and friends. Was intrigued with the wine glasses being used in the concert in Italy!! Ever thought about using a “glass harmonica” invented by Benjamin Franklin??

Some lovely, haunting, beautiful sounds from this glass instrument!

    Bill

  27. Hey Fed! How’d Your b-day go! Hope you got lots of relaxation!

Congrats to everyone as well in the caption contest!

    Cheerio!

  28. Happy Belated Birthday Fed. As always I am last on the boat…Oh well…still have girl scout cookies if ya want them LOL

    Renee B.

[Thanks very much. – Features Editor]

  29. Sorry FEd, couldn’t get on before so just wanted to wish you a belated Happy Birthday!

I’ve taken your advice on the Fantasy Football front by the way…..let’s hope he plays/played!

[I made some changes to mine this week, too. Good luck with that. – Features Editor]

  30. Happy birthday fed,a little late …mais du fond de mon coeur!

  31. Hello, so sad that you people delay the release here in MEXICO, i feel very fortunate, a friend of mine went to the US and brought me the DVD, is on my computer since that day, and i have seen it every day.

Long live David Gilmour and every body in the band.

    Saludos

  32. Oh, some of those captions were priceless!

Congrats to the winners and “good job” to everyone. That was fun!

    Uncharacteristically looking forward to Monday,

    Becky B., Migraineur

  33. Surprise!? I love surprises. You betchya I’m gonna be here to see what the surprise is.

  34. Congratulations people, good entries.

How are you Fed? Not hung over as it seems. Did David give you the trophy? You don’t have to answer obviously, just being the curious individual that I always am.

[Thanks to Royal Mail being on strike, it’s still in a sorting office somewhere. – Features Editor]

  35. Caption:

Phil Manzanera enviously looks on at the others having a good time while serving a “Time-Out”

  36. We know who the 3 “D”s are; now comes the 3 “A”s – congratulations Andrew S, Ax, Adriano, Michael and Craig.

[We’ve got a real treat for some of you on Monday …] wondering who the lucky ones are?

The captions are fun to read and certainly help to tie us over to the next “treat”.

Hope you all have a fun-filled and relaxing weekend and FEd, hope your birthday was a blast.

[It was, Veronica, thank you. – Features Editor]

  37. Finally, at last! I managed time to sit on the couch undisturbed and watch the RTN concert disc all the way through! How wonderful it was to relive those 3 nights I was at the RAH last year. The whole show is sublime, but the piece de resistance, imho, has to be the incomparable Echoes. The majesty, emotion and sheer grandeur of that piece is just beyond superlatives.

I was also reminded how well the OAI material sits alongside the classics we all know and love. So much so that I fervently hope David sticks to his comments about not making us wait another 12 years for his next burst of activity.

  38. Congratulations to the winners!

I am back from my walk with sore ankles and knee 🙂

My flat, which I moved into the day I left for the walk looks a lot like what I imagine David’s new office looks like. Boxes everywhere… can’t find a thing!

Hopefully I will be able to get that ‘real treat’ on Monday 🙂

    Have a great weekend everybody!

  39. Hi, from south of Spain; Congratulations for the best blog.

I only say that it’s a pity that you don´t play in Spain this year. We are a lot much of fans in this country. Please come the next year. We will wait you 🙂

Thanks for all these years of music. I love your music since that i was nine years old (i am 36 now)

    Un abrazo

  40. Hi FEd.

found out another top postiton of Davids DVD: in Estonia its number 3 of the Musik-DVD Charts.

    bye
    werner

[Great news. Thanks for the link, Werner. – Features Editor]

  41. Oof, I have a lot of catching up to do. A stomach flu kept me in hospital for most of this week.

Anyway, congrats to the witty caption competition winners!

And of course, congratulations to the Blog for getting the BT DMA!

And finally, a very belated but sincere happy birthday wish to FEd. Hope you had a wonderful day!

[Thank you. I hope you’re feeling better. – Features Editor]

  42. I’m from Mexico City and I already get Remember that Night in USA. It is really amaizing.

I agree with Dave: It is the best work of Gilmour that I have seen.

  43. [unfortunately cannot be met due to an issue with the DVD’s packaging.]

What’s on the cover? A greased, naked woman on all fours wearing a dog collar and a lease with a black glove being shoved into her face?

  44. Congrats to the winners.

I can’t get enough of the DVD. My wife says I’m obsessed, because I watch it daily.

There is a lot of good stuff to watch and I don’t have time to sit all day, so I watch it in segments.

  45. HI F’ed

I’ve been away hiking this week so I missed the Blog award and your birthday ….

So belated congratulations on both ….

There’s a very nice restaurant on Conduit Street … next time you are in town, get the boss to treat you.

Bet you’re looking forward to England and Les Bleues trading punches next week (!)… it’ll be like “Jeux sans frontiers” all over again …

[Thank you very much. When I get over the shock, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. – Features Editor]

  46. My two cents, Island Jam. Dm, Gm, Cm, Dm, Cm, A, A A7, A.

Sorry bout the A’s, don’t know what they’re called except by ear.

  47. Thomas R., I hope this may help.

Try logging on using your explorer and then download Java. Thats what I had to do and it works. Good luck.

I just wanted to say congratulations to the 5 winners, Way to go!

Plus I hope your team wins this next big game coming up and you are the master for it was Harvest.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

    Take Care, Thomas

[That’s a great album, Thomas. His best, do you think? – Features Editor]

  48. Hi Fed,

I just wondered if we’ll ever be able to get our hands on a copy of the jam at the odeon, as i was there and it was fantastic and I’d really love to hear/see it again.

    thanks

    lewis

  49. Congratulations to the winners and to David for the success in the charts.

Winners and no-winners, have a nice week!

    L!

  50. Thanks to Thomas for the help with Java. Managed to get it working but i’ll still have to wait until nearly the end of October for a time that the chatroom is open whilst i’m not at school!

Can’t wait for the surprise, is it the news that a RTN CD or a new PF boxset is being released?

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

[No. That would be great news for all of you. – Features Editor]

  51. Congratulations to our clever Captionists! Those were all fun to read! Enjoy those prizes, everyone!

Wow — a Monday Surprise! Tell me you’re not raffling off your Spice Girls tickets, FEd….?

    [Dream on. – Features Editor]

  52. Hiya!

Got home from the hospital this aft and am very tired but this is expected. Just fine albeit a few disolveable stitches in the nut and an order not to wash my riah for a keew…. and the ability to talk sdrawkcab!

So… how are you deF and divaD?

No really I am quite lucid (!) 🙂

….And so I watch The Sopranos and they play Comfortably Numb and the car Tony’s in goes down a ditch just as David sings ‘I have become….’ after several rolls down the ravine it stops to ‘…..Comfortably Numb’.

That’s TWICE they’ve played it now. woH cool. The Sops my fave tv show.

    Love Cori xxx

    Ps: wots Hap on Mon?

  53. My delayed contibution regarding the DVD premiere night in London was due to time constraints. However….do I have a sad story for why I didn’t get there!

I purchased tickets through my old hippie friend in London (she’s fantastic!) and 6 of us were to go to the DVD premiere at Leicester Square and see my all time favorite guitarist/ musician/ composer/ and all round nice guy Mr. David Gilmour.

I live in Canada, and had arranged my holiday around two shows….Davids was one of them. Rail tickets were purchased over the net and the stage was set for a fantastic night over in London and see David’s DVD release.

I arrived at Birmingham International railway station for the 1:10 to London, and just as my wife and I got to the platform about 15 minutes early for the train, all hell broke loose. The alarms were sounding and literally several hundred people were evacuated out of the building immediately. We were hearded into a nearby parking lot, and then moved further away from the building into and even further parking lot. Finally to a back parking lot where we were surrounded by a chain link fence and dozens of security people and station employees. A “package” had been found.

As the time slipped away, the state of emergency was still escalating even after and hr. Sniffer dogs, police with machine guns, and police tape all over the place. It all looked very efficient, but by 1 1/2 hrs our trip was out of the question. We had missed our connecting links and our friends who were going to look after us after we got to London.

At this point we both just looked at each other and laughed about the craziness of it all. We had to abandon what would have been the center point, and highlight of our trip to the UK.

Ah well “c’est la vie”, and there was nothing we could do about it! Our holiday to the UK was amazing and we did make the other show we wanted to see, but even that was threatened by a visit (by myself) with the NHS and the cardiac ward in Peterborough, yes….I’ve never had anything wrong with me like this before, but there I was in the cardiac ward for 10 hrs with my heart wobbling all over the place. I was released and did make the best of the rest of my trip.

Looking back it was quite eventful, and we were both deeply sorry we missed seeing David in London. Oh…I had tickets in the 10th row almost dead center….yeah, they were good. So I shall spend copious amouts of time crying in my beer and telling this story to all my friends, the story by the way, is getting better each time I tell it. Sad story ….. but a true one!

So that’s my whine for the day. I’m home and doing fine.

    Cheers
Bob Mitchell from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

[That’s extremely unfortunate, Bob. Hard luck. – Features Editor]

  54. Island Jam, the four A chords are A, A5(F), A7, A9(G) I guess.

Have fun anyway. Long weekend here, yeeeehawww.

  55. Congrads to the winners, It was fun reading all the captions. Happy belated birthday Fed!

I just love the DVD. Just some thoughts.

I really don’t need Pink Floyd to reunite. The way that this band did “Ecohs” just blew me away! As with anything in life, things change and evolve. David Gilmour and Richard Wright have surround themselfs with some wonderful musicions who you could say have brought a new dimension to the core of Pink Floyd.

So “Shine on you Crazy Diamonds.” I don’t believe that we have heard the last of them. Not by the look of the Photos.

  56. Thanks to Cori’s Mom for letting everyone know how she is coming along. Best wishes Cori.

I enjoyed reading all the captions Friday. I hope you plan another contest soon Fed. They are really fun for all. I know everyone will enjoy their prize. I am really jealous!

Hope the Royal Mail strike will be over soon so you can enjoy your trophy Fed. Maybe you could post a picture of you holding it???? You are such a mystery to us all.

    Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

  57. [unfortunately cannot be met due to an issue with the DVD’s packaging.]

Are they correcting the mistake with the guitar dots for the packaging for Latin America?

  58. Does anyone know how to access the chatroom via a ‘room password’??….ive tried my username and password and it doesn’t work…..i basically wanna know about gilmours sig fender guitar release….because im gonna fork out the cash for what will be my first strat!! (im a gibson man.)

[Whenever you are prompted to enter a room password, the chatroom is in ‘lock-in’ mode and the only people admitted are those that use the chatroom regularly (it’s merely a means of giving trusted visitors extra chat time). Chatroom opening, and closing, times are on our calendar. Please click your name for that. However, the chatroom is not intended as a real-time FAQ page. More often than not, such questions will be met with a shrug and possibly the use of our most dim-witted emoticons. Any such information is posted here, as and when it can be shared, and, funnily enough, the next entry pertains to said Strat, so I hope that sheds some light. – Features Editor]

  59. Congratulations to the Caption Contest Winners! Way to go!

Will Monday’s treat cause cavities Fed?

Hope you had a great weekend.

    (-:Tomi Sue:-)

  60. Glad to hear everything went well Cori. Hope you have a speedy recovery. See you soon.

    Best Wishes
    Lorraine

  61. Very happy to read you again on the blog, Cori and to hear about the good news.

    Cheers,

  62. I loved all the captions. I still can’t see any pictures, but some of the captions were so funny I laughed out loud.

  63. For FEd

There’s been confusion over my name I’d found out yesterday, I’ve been reading the blog entries and there’s this other person who asked you about the Best Buy’s, that’s not me it’s another Adam. I was just hoping you knew about it, to clear up the confusion.

But I do have got some great news and to everyone. The RTN DVD has risen at No.2 in one week on the ARIA charts over here in Australia.

Peace and love to familiar bloggers,
    Adam G

[Thanks for that, Adam. – Features Editor]

  64. Dear All,

I know I mess around and stuff, but the kindness of you guys out there who convey your well wishes to me are so lovely. I love you all and I feel very humble. You are all real and very lovely people.

    SHINE ON FOREVER!

    LOVE IROC (CORI, ACTUALLY) XXXXX

[It could cause headaches, but your teeth should be fine. – Features Editor]

That applies to me too, cos the teeth are next. Oh the cost of (freedom) becoming a Gilmourette!

  65. Hi, when is David Gilmour gonna make a tour within South America? I hope soon.

    [Same here. – Features Editor]

  66. David, I would like to talk about your guitar being released with Fender.

I can only hope that the cost of your guitar is going to be set low enough for the common person. Have you seen the prices they get for other signature guitars? Some are $30,000 at release!

Please, please keep the money out of the equation as you seem to do with everything else in your life. Remember the less well off working man as I.

    Thanks
Kirk Higgs Long Pond Pa USA
