DVD release date

19000_blog.jpg

We’ve kept you waiting to avoid unnecessary disappointment, but we can now announce the official release date of David’s ‘Remember That Night’ DVD.

It will be released on Monday 17 September in the UK and across most of Europe (on EMI) and on Tuesday 18 September in the USA, Canada and most Sony territories.

That’s all we can say for now, so please don’t ask about countries other than the UK, US and Canada. As soon as we can be more specific, we’ll let you know more.

Thanks to everyone who popped into the chatroom today. The next chat will be on Friday between 11AM and 1PM (UK).

If that’s too early for you, please see our calendar for dates of later chat sessions.

  1. Oh Mylanta! I just completely lost my head and danced around my house. September 18, that is going on my calander RIGHT NOW! Thank you, FEd, for finally releasing the floods, and thank you David, for pretty much everything. !!!!!<—Exclamation marks to express squeals and shouts and leaps and fist pumps.

Side note; I have a few of these ink sketches that I need opinions on before I submit them for ajudication. Since one or two are of David (sorry, I needed something…) I figure the wonderful people here would be the best judges. Is there a way to post them or something of that nature?

[If you get them online and let me know where to find them, I’ll link to them. – Features Editor]

  2. FEd, I don’t usually look forward to the end of summer before it has even started, but this year I will make an exception.

What GREAT news… roll on 17th September.

Now where did my Blotto card go…

  3. That´s some great news Fed. It´s near my Mom´s birthday and I could buy it for her, she is getting very interested in David Gilmour, as all my friends are, I speak sooo much about him and the Floyd.

I´ll be first in the queue!

  4. Looking forward to the DVD!

Today when i went grocery shopping what did i hear when i got to the frozen foods isle!?!??! “On an Island”!!! I must say this particular store plays prety good music…

  5. Thanks for the update. Thanks even more for not doing blotto that long!

CAPTION: No, this is my good side.

  6. A Crouch hatrick and a dvd release date. What next? Champions league title!!!!

  7. Can’t wait for the DVD- just a few days before my birthday, too!

A quick note as to what a great year it’s been- a year ago last night/tonight, I saw David in NYC at Radio City Music Hall. Brilliant shows!! To this day, I am still so grateful for the album and US dates- thank you, David!

On another personal note, my wife and I are welcoming our first child into the world in a matter of days- we’ve already ordered the Pink Floyd onesie!! (I need an OAI one next!!)

    Best regards,
    Chris

    [Congratulations, Chris. – Features Editor]

  8. At first I thought….”Oh no, such a long wait…was expecting it in June/July”, but having attended the concert in Glasgow I just know that Good things come to those who wait – especially Floyd fans. 😀

I really can’t wait for the DVD to see David in action again. Simply the most inspirational guitarist I’ve had the privelige of listening to. He’s had the most profound effect of all on my playing.

Out of all the concerts I’ve been to, which include a lot of absolute music greats…Echoes was simply the best performance of any piece of music I have ever heard live. I cannot wait to see David and his band’s version documented.

I’m guessing the HD-DVD version will be released at a later date? My HDTV is going to waste!!! 😛

    Thanks for the info FEd.

[We’ll have a release date for the HD version as soon as possible, Stephen. – Features Editor]

  9. The DVD release date is perfect!!!

My wife and I used David’s performance of “Dimming of the Day” from the Meltdown shows for our first dance at our wedding…on September 18th! So the release date is very, very nice. Thank you David for taking into consideration our anniversary 😉

It will make the perfect gift…thank goodness I married a huge fan of David’s music…oh, maybe I’ll taker her out to dinner, too:)

  10. I know what I’ll be watching at work on my laptop on the 18th of September…

Thank you, David, for your diligence in ensuring a high-quality product for us. I’m confident it will be /more/ than worth the wait, as always. 🙂

Thanks for the chat Wednesday, everyone who was there. Much appreciated the company while I was getting slammed at work.

Happy Thursday, and I hope everyone who was feeling poorly starts feeling better. My cough is finally going away, which makes me inordinately happy.

    ‘Nix.

  11. Hi FEd,

Great news on the upcoming release of “Remember That Night”! Starting the countdown clock now, only five months to go … I’m sure there will be plenty of speculation as to what will be included on the dvd and you will probably have endless opportunities to poke at us with your famous pointy sticks as we needle you for details! Inquiring minds, you know …

Thanks to Marcus and Lynn for the memory adjustment today. Talk about ‘remember that night’!! It’s hell losing what few brain cells are left after surviving the late ’60s and early ’70s. Take note Simon!

Best wishes to David and Polly. I can’t thank you enough for the memories, even if I do get the dates mixed up sometimes! What a fantastic year you’ve given us with more to come. Add to that the many new friends all over the world and the unique community that’s developed as a result of a love of your music, hey, it doesn’t get much better than this! And a fab FEd too, yahoo.

Peace and love to you all!

  12. Hey… great news… now I have my perfect bday present since I’m turning 25 in September :D!!!

Wello wello… always good news from you Fed! 😀

    Shine on!

    Jorge.

  13. From May to September. Must be patient.

It is nearly a year ago since Massey Hall. Time does fly. Since this notice, perhaps a 3rd CD is in the works also Fed? Hmmm.

    Happy Easter everyone.

  14. Dear David and FEd

Thanx for the info!! 5 months seems a long way off. But time is fleeting…

I do hope you guys will be taking advance orders and such. (no hint there)

I would jump up and down but I would probably break a body part. Hey, I am definately jumping up and down on the inside!!! (I do admit to squealing a bit)

    Penny

  15. Ciao,

“beginning of next year” you said at the very beginning…and I always knew it wasn’t true….same old story. So I do hope that this “official” release date will be for real. Eventually the DVD will be on the shelves, now or then. 😉

    Ciao.

  16. Something to look forward to as the nights draw in (i shouldn’t be thinking about autumn already) .It does seem a long way off right now i must admit.

Thank you for letting us know.

    Happy Easter everybody.

  17. September???? Late! But good, because it will help us to win the sadness to come back to work after the summer holidays!

    L!

  18. Start the countdown…

I want to wish good work to all the people involved in the Dvd creation!

    Love
    Emi

  19. Thanks FEd for the information of David’s dvd. Plus what a great turn out in the chat room, Wednesday night. Did you expect the turn out to go so well.

Again thanks for letting us know when it will be released and Thank David for all the Irregulars about this great concert on Dvd. Because his music is great.

    Take Care,
    Thomas

  20. Wooooo Hooooooo! I know it seems like a long time from now, but time has a way of flying by. Just as the kids are getting back into school… sounds like it will be a day to take off from work while the kids are away! I know it will be of the utmost quality and will be worth the wait. Great news Fed… thanks!

Happy Easter everyone! He is risen indeed!

    Tim

  21. [good things come to those who wait, as the saying goes. – features editor]

    thank you, david. 🙂

  22. Happy Thursday,

September 18 – the day Jimi Hendrix passed away.

    Enjoy your long weekend

    Pete – Coventry

  23. no wonder you at davidgilmour.com were so irritated by that fansite story about it coming out in march. the official date makes that rumour look pretty stupid.

thanks for giving us an honest date, fed.

  24. Fed et al… Here she is…

My latest guitar arrived a few days ago, a Fender Telecaster and she’s amazing. 17 years old, looking and sounding amazing… (Click my name below)

Now all I need is name for her… any suggestions 🙂

[Nice. How about something Syd-related? Emily? Lucy? Henrietta? – Features Editor]

  25. Fed (Thanks for doing this) et al

  26. The new DVD!

There are a load of t’shirts which sport the number 01.20.09 which is Bush’s last day in office…

Maybe we can get some 09.18.2007 and 17.09.2007 ones made for the release date! 🙂

Fantastic news about the DVD 🙂

  27. Wow! thank you for the news!

Can I put gold crosses on my blotto card in the squares #17 and #9 ? far nicer than all those awful red crosses !

    Michèle

  28. Rudders, that new tele looks like a screamer with that Duncan in the bridge. Keep that in mind when you name her.

    Thanks.

    Andrew

  29. Thank you for the updates and I can’t wait for these exciting upcoming plans in June, July and September.

I am certain when the time gets closer, we will be able to refer to THE CALENDAR for all the special schedules.

Was the CHATROOM open late these days? I’ve noticed a few familiar names on the CHATROOM pretty late in the evening. I gather a lot of the irregulars are doing more on the CHATROOM than the POST these days.

    Happy Thursday!

[Yes, we often have lock-ins after the chatroom has closed. – Features Editor]

  30. Poor Fed, DG asked you to make all the DVD-copies on your pc? Ah, in that case I gladly accept the half-year delay.

At least now we are certain about the release date, these record companies have proven their unreliability when it comes to timing more than enough. That will teach them a lesson.

If you want I can help you print the inserts, I have this fast 3ppm inkjet here (and I won’t look at the song sequence of dvd1, honest).

  31. [My latest guitar arrived a few days ago, a Fender Telecaster and she’s amazing. 17 years old, looking and sounding amazing… Now all I need is name for her… any suggestions – Rudders]

The reflection in the guitars pick up suggests Lady Godiva…

  32. Matt…

    I know… I should have photo-shopped that out!

The reflection is in fact my forehead and if anyone is interested I choose to wear my hair short! 🙂

  33. [The reflection in the guitars pick up suggests Lady Godiva… ]

Matt, so observant. Good thing our friend Rudders was fully dressed.

    Thanks.

    Andrew

  34. Good things come to those who wait, indeed. It sounds like a truly wonderful DVD.

  35. [Now all I need is name for her… any suggestions – Posted by: Rudders]

    You know I can’t resist…

    1) Sir Twang-a-Lot
    2) Redders
    3) The Sydalator
    4) Lady McRed (if you fancy your instrument as female in gender)
    5) Crimson Piper
    6) Rojo Suave
    7) Il Bambino Rosso

  36. Dear F.Ed.

great news! it’s good anyway !!!!!

  39. [The reflection is in fact my forehead and if anyone is interested I choose to wear my hair short!]

Rudders, your forehead seems more follicly challenged than your chest :0)

I admire your collection of guitars.

Angelo has got the name right for your new Telecaster, it has to be (2) “Redders”.

  40. [The reflection in the guitars pick up suggests Lady Godiva… ]

I will tell her that when I see her next.
