LFAR update

Good news for anyone hoping to see David’s brilliant August 2006 performance at the legendary Abbey Road studios.

FremantleMedia Enterprises has licensed its popular ‘Live from Abbey Road’ music series to 18 broadcasters around the world.

As well as the US (starting on the Sundance Channel in June), it will also be broadcast in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, pan-regional Asia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore.

Look out for it on Fox channels in Italy, Sony in Latin America, Lumiere in Cyprus, Ceska in the Czech Republic, YLE in Finland, Kanal 5 in Sweden, 365 Media in Iceland and Geo TV in Pakistan.

David features in the eighth show.

If you spot it coming up in your TV listings, please let us know when fans in your part of the world will be able to see it. Of course, we’d also love to know what you thought of it when you’ve see it.

FremantleMedia Enterprises hope to licence this series further, so, if your region isn’t listed above, then keep your fingers crossed. We hope to have a further update soon.

The show was broadcast on Channel 4 and More4 in the UK earlier this month. You can read what David’s fans had to say about it here.

There’s no chat today, but our chatroom will be open between 4PM and 7PM (UK) tomorrow. If you haven’t yet taken the plunge and visited, do drop by. You’ll receive a warm welcome by all, just please take note of the rules on your way in.

  1. WOW no Blotto word for today? Fed. Well we all need a break.

I hope to see you all tomorrow in the chat room.

Plus again I hope you had a great Birthday Lorraine.

    Take Care,

[That’s your lot for this week, sorry. – Features Editor]

  2. That’s great news! Thanks for the update. Now I’m off to see I’m properly subscribed to Sundance….

On another note, best wishes to Erin who goes under the knife today…

[All the best to you, Erin. – Features Editor]

  3. Awesome to see GeoTv will be showing it here. I will be looking forward to it surely. 🙂

Hi Fed… I take it you’ve been well?

[Very well, thanks. I hope the same is true for you. Enjoy the programme. – Features Editor]

  4. Ciao,

Fed can you please, at this moment, be more precise about italian broadcasting of the concert? It seems to me that italian fox channels just broadcast tv series!

[That’s all I know, sorry. – Features Editor]

  5. Luckily, after checking, I do have Sundance…so I will keep an eye out for the program.

We’re thinking of you Erin…you’ll be fine, as long as your doctor isn’t Dr. Vinny Boombatz.

  6. That’s great news. It is a fantasic programme, well worth watching.

Thanks to everyone for all the birthday wishes and singing in the chat room yesterday, it was great fun, you’re all lovely, lovely people!!

    Good luck Erin.

  7. Dear F.Ed.

thank you for the first Blotto number (it’ s not good for me) and very good news today!

Please let me know more details about this Fox channel (i do not know it) the evening time would be perfect of course to see the performance (please remember Italy has only +1 on Greenwich time!)

By the way and off topic, last night i finally saw the video on MTV of that ugly and bad version of “Another brick in the wall”: the performer is Eric Prydz vs P.F. – title “Proper education” Bleah !! I really wonder how PF let him to do it!!!!

    Bye/ciao Elisabetta

  8. that is good news. thanks fed.

i hope everyone who wants to see it will be able to see it. it was a great show.

  9. Hopefully Muchmusic or someone similar will licence for Canada. Sundance is not on cable up here though it maybe is on pay per view.

    Cheers Howard

  10. What’s Erin in for if I may?

I dont want to be nosey though especially if its for rhinoplasty…

My best to her as I know she will be just fine 🙂

  11. Hey

Elisabetta mentioned the Prydz Floyd thing – I kind of like it. I felt that DG was trying to funk things up a little bit anyway with that riff when he originally did it and it is nice to occassionally get away from the 6/8 Floyd Time thing like SOYCD and OAI as well as the 4/4 Heavy on the Ride Cymbal stuff (like Breathe and Us and Them).

I’m not sure I’m really aware of David’s rhythmical influences as opposed to his musical ones? I remember Money getting a bit of a Reggae feel out on the MLOR tour but that may have been more of a Guy thing. Anyone got any thoughts? I guess like everyone it’s nice to break out of the mould and do something a bit different now and then. I suppose that’s where DG’s collaborative work comes into play?

Whilst I feel the guitar sound is sooooo Gilmour that it’s hard not to miss it, sometimes the style and rhythm are just a bit predictable (not a criticism) and so it’s nice to listen to something and not figure it out as DG until later in the piece when a particular phrasing or sound comes through. I’d love to hear OAI handed over and re-mixed by a range of other producers with different tracks given some different treatment. I might not like all of the results but sometimes you just get to hear things differently and it brings new colour to them.

  12. Hi Fed,

that´s great news! But, when could we see David´s fantastic gig in Central Europe (Germany, Austria, France…)?

    All the best

[I’m afraid that all my knowledge of where and when the series will be broadcast around the world is shown above. If we learn more, we’ll let you know immediately. – Features Editor]

  13. I am looking forward to the Abbey Road shows on Sundance.

Luckily I get that channel through direct-tv. Yay.

  14. Great I have Sundance channel.

Good Luck to Erin and a belated happy birthday to Lorraine.

  15. Erin, I just wanted to wish you good luck with your surgery today. They’d better get it right this time or the Irregulars will have to pay ’em a visit, strap ’em down and play a continuous loop of the 14-second bit of alarms ringing from ‘Time’ at full volume until they cry like babies!!!

I hope you’re able to stay Comfortably Numb as long as necessary too. If ever there was a time to be on drugs this is it my dear! And practice that Strat girl … unless you’re content to be one of the Gilmourettes on back-up that is!

    Peace and love to ya!

  16. [What’s Erin in for if I may? – Matt]

Erin is having her jaw broken and then wired shut for three weeks. This is her third surgery of the same ilk to correct a jaw alignment issue that has been causing migraines.

Marcus Buick and I bought her several pints of Guinness last night as a final hurrah before going under the knife. I also believe we pioneered logging into the chatroom while drinking pints in a bar. Isn’t wireless grand?

She was in good spirits about the impending ordeal, so I’m sure whe will pull through fine.

I’m sure she will appreciate all of your well wishes while she’s recoperating. Her surgery is at noon today (about two hours from now) in California.

  17. does anyone know if there would be a net show featuring this or a pay per view for canada? i really want to see this, but the tin foil wrapped coat hanger above my tv is only so strong…

  18. Thanks EBob, Wow that is quite an grueling undertaking for Erin to go through. Let’s hope the third time is indeed the charm for her. Prayers are being sent and if this one doesnt take lawsuits being filed…

    Feel Better Erin!

  19. [I also believe we pioneered logging into the chatroom while drinking pints in a bar. – Posted by: EchoesBob at March 21, 2007 05:50 PM]

I still pwn you for logging into the chatroom from a moving van on I-94 in the wilds of Wisconsin. 😉

Time to escalate the geek war, Bob m’friend. Bring it. 😉

On the serious side, best wishes go out to Erin for her situation, and anyone else who is experiencing a down moment or difficulty… please accept any positive thoughts I can direct your way.

    Be good, everyone.

Thanks for letting me sleep in a little tomorrow, FEd. 😀

  20. I’m sure it was mentioned previously that the Abbey Road series will be released on DVD at some point.

Fed… if I’m correct then this is the URL (click my name).

[We certainly did mention that there would be a DVD, but cannot confirm that David will be included on it. As soon as we can, we will. The link you refer to has nothing to do with the ‘Live from Abbey Road’ series. Neither Kanye West nor Donovan Frankenreiter performed on the series, so these two DVDs are not related. Please don’t expect to see a similar one for David’s Abbey Road session. He and the band played several songs, but certainly not enough to warrant a DVD. – Features Editor]

  21. Not sure if this is the place to ask, but I’ll give it a shot.

Is there any chance that there will be more Pink Floyd released on SACD? I have the Dark Side release and it was pretty awesome. I know that Meddle and Wish You Were Here were both recorded and released in Quad, so they might be good candidates (there were rumors that Wish You Were Here was in process).

Also, if I remember correctly, Animals and The Wall were recorded in Quad (but never released). After listening to the surround sound version of Dark Side, I realized these were meant to be in some sort of 3D audio. So will these great albums be released in SACD?

[Sorry, Ken. We’re only interested in what David is planning on releasing for now. – Features Editor]

  22. Oh, poor Erin. I wish her all the best. It’s nice that you, Bob, and Marcus helped her to relax before the surgery. I hope to listen to her very soon!

    Erin! Good luck, dear!

  23. I’ve been reading the blog for some time now and I have yet understood who FED is??? Are you just a huge Gilmour fan running a web page or what? Do people think your connected to David some how? Please let us know.

[Thanks for caring, Mitch. This is a part of the official davidgilmour.com site – so yes, it is very much connected to David, who takes an active interest in how the site appears – but I am “just a huge Gilmour fan”, too. – Features Editor]

  24. Great news LFAR in Fox Channel in Italy!

But please could the first who knows ‘when’ let us know?

  25. Unbelivable ! DG Broadcasted in Pakistan and we, in France, we are not able to buy the TV Broadcast !!! I can’t understand, I can’t understand !

Anyway, I hope the Pakistan people did enjoy the show on the TV.

  26. *sigh* Alas, alack, and damn, I have less than thirteen channels of shit on MY tv… I’ll just think about it wistfully, and heave deep, querelous sighs. That should get the job done. *sigh*

  27. Any one who has not seen this footage from Abbey Road is in for a treat, it is BRILLIANT!

All the best to Erin, get well soon.

  28. Ok cool, found it. Screening in Australia.

‘Live From Abbey Road’ Gig Series On Max TV (Foxtel) From April

Sun 20 May – David Gilmour

Sat 23 and Sun 24 June 2 Day Marathon : Screening 6 episodes back to back from 11am each day.

[Many thanks for that, Karen. Consider these dates added to the calendar… shortly. I hope you enjoy David’s performance. Do let us know your thoughts. – Features Editor]

  29. CAPTION: David was puzzled to find that the trout he had been holding was his guitar all along.

  30. I picked up a copy of Bryan Ferry’s newest (Dylanesque) last night, and browsing through the cover booklet I was pleased to see that Our Guy is the man on bass!

It excites me greatly to think that my hand (which hasn’t been washed since that fateful night at the RAH) has shaken the hand of a man who must have at some point shaken the hand of another of my heroes.

Six degrees of separation, they say. Often it’s less.

  31. Howdy Everyone.

If anybody knows whether LFAR will be aired in India, please do let me know since I may be over in this side of the world for a while.

  32. Today’s picture is good… I just realize I’ve been taking them for granted.

  33. All the best wishes in the world to Erin on your hospital date.

CAPTION : “And you can tie the next lace properly , thank you.”

Our hero trying to explain that most people could not lace his boots when it comes to guitar playing.

  34. Re: Mojo’s Live Act of the Year poll

Third place..good,even if I think the second would be more honest,or a half-first with the Boss, not only for Rick’s presence on the tour, but for all the band. But a poll it’s just a poll!

This evening I’m at my reharsals,I will not be here in chat, please FEd give a kiss to everyone for me (expecially to Mel!) and still thanks for the smiles of two days ago.

Have a good day and rock on!

  35. Thank you for that update, FEd. Will keep an eye on the Belgian TV stations for that.

Best wishes to Erin. Hope everything works out well soon.

    Greetings from Antwerp,

  36. I agree with Angelo. These photos are wonderful and capture the energy of a brilliant band performing live.

My favourite of all the March blogs is the ‘Guestmap’ one of 9th March.

I also like the one of Richard smiling at Abbey Road from the 2nd March blog.

  37. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. These first few days are the roughest, where I’d just like to curl up in a ball and die. Luckily, I’ll be CN for days/weeks.

Thanks Marcus and Bob for treating me before the surgery, you guys are greater in person then on the net.

Thanks David and FEd for allowing all these encourging posts for me on the blog, I really can’t tell you how much it means to me. *tear*

[Look after yourself, Erin. – Features Editor]

  38. Jessica, the reason why you have got 13 channels of shit on you telly is that FremantleMedia probably has done business with most of them.

It is surprising to me that these global wholesalers in crap-entertainment have chosen to put their hands on the LFAR series, a first class product.

Bad taste is their corporate standard and without any respect for the public or the product they will do anything to increase their market chair.

First signs of decay are already there, I read here above that the series will be broadcasted in Australia on a daily base. That’s not an expression of much style is it? I bet the individual chapters will get chopped up in pieces to allow for commercial breaks.

  39. Hello FED and All !!!

Just as I was getting ready to post my post yesterday, my server crashed. Ugh ! Let me see if I can recall the gist of it…ah, yes, it’s coming back… .

My first thoughts after all were of Erin. Godspeed on your recovery, Erin !! I wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you. My sister (well, best friend) was involved in a horrific automobile accident earlier this year and one of the things the doctors had to do was wire her jaw shut, so I can totally empathize and sympathize. Hang in there, girl !! I certainly hope that this ought to be the last time you have to deal with surgery.

The other thing I wanted to state is now I have a real good reason to get cable or some dish telly. This is wonderful news about LFAR. I can hardly wait to see these sessions, especially David’s. Those that were fortunate enough to have actually sat in to watch our hero, I”m sure you’ll all be tickled pink. [Sorry ’bout the pun, couldn’t resist !] June, eh ? Oooh, I can hardly wait ! Too bad somebody like PBS couldn’t carry it !

Any ol’ way, I certainly hope for the best for you, Erin.

Oh btw, FED, could I put forth the proposition that if enough of us clamour for the return of the ‘This Heaven’ video, do you think the esteemed webmaster could bring it back ? It was my first real look at David’s new album last year and lemme tell you !! It gave me goosebumps.

I swear I can almost hear the chants…”Bring it back, bring it back !!!”

Peace and Love to All !!!

    Cazart !

[No clamouring, please. If you clamour, we’ll consider releasing the hounds. – Features Editor]

  40. I heard some comments that David is coming to Argentina. I’m dreaming of that, all fans are here in Argentina. Please let me know the truth!

Best and thanks for being there!

[The truth is that David isn’t visiting Argentina. Sorry to disappoint you. There are no plans for any shows, anytime, anywhere in the world. If that changes, we’ll let you know. – Features Editor]

  41. Hi everyone,

I am so lucky I received a few days ago the recording of ‘Live from Abbey Road’ from my father in law. I hope it will be broadcast soon also in Italy because it’s absolutely amazing and all the Italian friends can enjoy it.

    ciao ciao

  42. Erin, good luck with the surgery, and I am praying for you. I am fairly new to the blog, but I’ve read some of these posts and heard about your surgery. I don’t know all the details, but I had my jaw wired a few years back and I DO know how much it sucks. I hope your recovery is quick and that you don’t have more surgery to face.

P.S. Ronny: I haven’t heard of FremantleMedia. Commie plot? (Ha ha.)

  43. Sorry for the delay, these are strange days for me.

Erin, my best toughts to you. Hope you’re better day by day.

  44. Hey Jessica,

Thanks for the good wishes. This is my 3rd jaw surgery in less then a year. I had to have it due to TMJ problems.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, you better be careful, this place can be addicting =)

  45. Hi guys,

I would like to thank you guys for your feedback on the b/c issue, in the chatroom, today. (Nate, EchoesBob, Gabrielle, Phoenix, Melissa, Becky and whomever I am forgetting to mention!)

    FEd, have a wondrous weekend.

  46. 3rd place is respectable. Let’s hope RTN gets a Grammy for? So many to choose from. 3 would be nice eh?

P.S. Any Canadians want to get together on Aug. 18th?

  47. Fedmeister

Thanks for the clarification on the possibility of a DVD.

Spring is here in Ontario and the snows are disappearing! Hope everyone has a good weekend…

  48. Wow…

Just listen to ALL of today’s music snippet on the home page…very nice 🙂

Frank… August 18th is good with me 🙂

  49. Today i just want to leave you this short but intense poetry.

Have a nice weekend Bye/Ciao Elisabetta

Ognuno sta solo sul cuor della terra
trafitto da un raggio di sole:
    ed è subito sera

    (Salvatore Quasimodo)

Everyone stands alone at the heart of the world
Pierced by a ray of sunlight
    And suddenly it is evening

  50. What a great site about David. Then I found the Blog.

Why is it that when a music site sets up a chat, someone (Americans mostly) sets up camp and uses the place to tell the rest of the fans ‘what they think about everything’. Little clicks of people that are more about themselves than David. They carry on conversations between themselves and could care less about the actual purpose of the place, or use David only to legitimize their conversation.

It’s a shame that it always goes like this. And these people claim to care about others. I hope you put a stop to it, FE’d. Who really cares what the same group of people think everyday. Swap emails. Who wants to read the daily digest when we are all here to read about David.

Just my pennies worth. Anyway, I hope David keeps making music for EVERYONE to enjoy.

[Opinions are great and your critique is fair enough. I personally disagree with some of it, but I don’t think there needs to be a dull, predictable backlash in defence of anyone or anything from those you have offended. Please spare us all from that nonsense. Thank you. – Features Editor]

  51. Click my name in order to prevent the demolition of the chimneys of Battersea Power Station…

[Good find, Michèle. It’s always good to let Tony know what we think. Maybe he’ll even listen one of these days. Please note that you must be a British citizen or resident to sign this petition. – Features Editor]

  52. I’m going to see the broadcast of LFAR tonight!!! It will be aired here in Brazil by the HBO channel.

I’m going to see it in the lovely company of my girlfriend and a bottle of wine, and just a week after seeing Roger Waters in Buenos Aires – Argentina!

What else could I wish (besides seeing Gilmour live as well of course :P)?

I’m very looking forward to see LFAR released in dvd here in my country.

  53. Remember that Night?

Oh yes, previous blog entry I made mentioned the….well….conception of a certain Lee Jnr!!

Well he was born one month ago @ 8lb 2oz. Did not name him David or Albert or Hall but still, we know it was THAT NIGHT…

    [Congratulations, Lee. – Features Editor]

  54. Hi, I’m From Poland. I can’t speak English very well because I’m young and I learning this language.

I used to listen Pink Floyd, nowadays I also Listen this wonderful band!

    Greeting from Poland! 🙂

  55. Hi Fed,

Congrats to David and co. for 3rd in Mojo’s poll. You have earned it.

Erin, best wishes for a speedy recovery from surgery. (I could make some comment about how it must be torture for a woman to have her jaw wired shut, but I won’t. :P) I hope your migraines go away now.

    Have a good weekend, all.

[Mike, you’re a very wise man. – Features Editor]

  56. Actually the first part of this is to congratulate Mr. Gilmour and Co. on their success.

Third !! That is a major accomplishment. After seeing you for those two nights in Venice, oh what the hell and the sound checks too !! I thought to myself that you ought must’ve deserved some major kudos. Well, the third best live act on the planet isn’t too shabby ! Congratulations David !! Hopefully you’ll grace us with your genius again sometime in the forseeable future. I look forward to it.

Maybe, just maybe, you or your management enterprise will see the that “the show must go on.” and grace us with perhaps another one of your masterful works. Wouldn’t that be nice. Oh and yes, “They did play well.” : )

To everyone else. Erin take good care of yourself this weekend, I pray for your speedy recovery.

Penny, Michele, Melissa, George, Nate and all of those that I may’ve forgotten, thank you for yesterday. You know what I mean. It’s amazing how the brain works. One minute you’re fine, the next, whammo ! for some inexplicable reason I’m carrying on like a sad, scared child.

And of course, FED. FED, FED, FED, I thank you immensely. You put up with me and in the end I wound up leaving the chatroom yesterday with a warm glowing feeling. Thanks a million times over. You could’ve kicked me to the curb but you didn’t. Anybody out there who feels that FED is whatever in their own opinions, keep in mind folks, FED is quite alright. Hey, he has to put up with us right ? : )

Have a great weekend everyone !!! Peace and Love to All !!! Cazart ! ( Thanks again, Penny !! )

[Thanks, Raymond. “Quite alright” is fine by me. – Features Editor]

  57. hey mind if i ask..

when n where will it be aired in malaysia?? please gimme sum update!! im drawning here..

[Sorry I can’t say more. That’s all we know for now. – Features Editor]

  58. What I find really amazing about the On an Island tour coming in so high in the MOJO magazine poll is that the tour played to so much less people than the other tours.

  59. The new Rolling Stone magazine has Pink Floyd on the cover.

Issue 1023, April 5th, if anybody is interested

  60. Sorry to hear about that Erin i have TMJ also, but i havent had surgery yet.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  61. oh yea, fed i wanted to thank you for clearing things up about you being the biggest fan. Im the second.

SORRY i just felt like a laugh.I needed one today.

[Tracy, what can I say? Raymond didn’t declare that I’m “quite alright” back there for nothing, you know. Whatever’s causing that black cloud, keep your chin up. Clouds pass. – Features Editor]

  62. Thank you for the update on Live from Abbey Road, FEd. I envy those who have the Sundance Channel. I can only hope that ‘Live from Abbey Road’ music series will be shown on Public Broadcast Channel here in Miami one day.

Erin, you are a tough cookie to have to go through three surgeries in less than a year. I am happy to see that you’re back on “the Blog” – do take it easy and best wishes to you for a speedy recovery. I am sure David Gilmour’s music would be a big help and comforting during recovery.

    p.s. Happy belated birthday Lorraine!

  63. Hi fed and all

Im in hong kong at the minute, wonderful city. ive seen some sights on my travels. Bei jing was much more than i realised. Im getting a little homesick though. ah well only another six months to go when i can sing to myself:

“home, home again i like to be here when i can, and when i come home cold and tired, its good to warm my bones beside the fire.”

“And far away across the fields the tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spell.”

AM i going overboard with the home sick thing

  64. Dear Fed,

as I´ve just learnt, Pink Floyd´s DVD Pulse won the German Music Prize Echo today. So far I only found a German link to that (click my name).

[Good news. Thanks for letting us know. – Features Editor]

  65. [Im in hong kong at the minute, wonderful city. ive seen some sights on my travels. Bei jing was much more than i realised. Im getting a little homesick though.]

Hi Damian, I lived in Hong Kong for 7 years. Grew up there in the 70s. Still miss the place from time to time. I guess home is where your heart is.

  66. Greetings FEd,

How was your weekend? I do hope it was enjoyable.

Raymond, you are very welcome. I hope you can find a good place within yourself to enjoy your memories.

And for those who are feeling left out in the chatroom, by those who “take over”, jump in the conversation. It always changes from one thing to another. If you stay long enough you realise how truly devoted to David we really are. Hell, alot of our conversations are about the music with tons of quoted lyrics woven throughout. The chatroom is actually a very warm and friendly place to visit, especially for those who are warm and friendly.

[It was very enjoyable, thank you. I went to see Jethro Tull and, not being a fan of Jethro Tull, was pleasantly surprised. How was yours? As for the blog and chatroom, then one thing I have to add is that Penny’s “warm and friendly” remark is spot-on. We don’t want the vanity, the arrogance, the self-promotion, the demanding, the bragging, etc. We care about your opinions and for how long can you repeat your opinion on an album or a concert? If other things creep in occasionally, as long as they’re rule-friendly, then thank God for that. – Features Editor]

  67. Wow ! Fed, What happened to you and your blog ?

    J’ai eu très, très peur…

[Our apologies. The server was being awkward. – Features Editor]

  68. [They carry on conversations between themselves and could care less about the actual purpose of the place, or use David only to legitimize their conversation].

I just want to remind Rachael that Fed created the chat because too much “off topic” conversation was happening here. So, since he is not telling, I tell you that his purpose was to give people a place where to have free conversations about everything.

I don’t use that chat, but it was a non requested nice gift. 🙂

    Well done, Fed.

sorry, it is a dull answer indeed.

[Not dull at all, mate. I have to say that the chatroom isn’t as free as some people would like it to be, but keeping out the vanity of various people promoting themselves is, arguably, why many return. Opinions are always more interesting than whatever it is they’re plugging. – Features Editor]

  69. F*Ed ~

That was Ian Anderson’s acoustic tour correct? Of course “Aqualung” and “Thick As A Brick” are classic albums but you should really pick up “Minstrel In The Gallery” and “Stormwatch” as well….they are brilliant

[Yes, it was ‘Acoustic Jethro Tull’. Thanks for the tip. – Features Editor]

  70. [I went to see Jethro Tull and, not being a fan of Jethro Tull, was pleasantly surprised.]

good choice Fed. It is one of my favourite band (even if too overproductive with the risk of making a lot of crap, amidst gems). But “live” the flute of Ian anderson is really great. He created a style and no one was ever able to reproduce that sound. Saw them….5? 6 times?

last time was in Mantova in the park of “palazzo te” built in 16th Centruy. What a beautiful place for a concert!!! Aren’t we lucky in Italy?

[It was a good concert. If nobody suggests that David ought to stand on one leg the next time he performs (and I hasten to add at this point that there are no plans for David to perform anywhere at this time), then, frankly, I’ll be offended. – Features Editor]

  71. Glad to see the blog back up, and running.

    Simon J

    [Thanks, mate. – Features Editor]

  72. [If nobody suggests that David ought to stand on one leg the next time he performs (and I hasten to add at this point that there are no plans for David to perform anywhere at this time), then, frankly, I’ll be offended. – Features Editor]

F’Ed, I think it would be great if David performed on one leg. Maybe not for the entire show, but perhaps he could do that during “Comfy Numb” to add a little levity. Of course, if he stood on his head and played the solo with his teeth, it would have an even greater effect.

He could, of course, stick his tongue way out of his mouth and spit fake blood. Now I’m getting silly, making comparisons between David Gilmour and KISS (the equivalent of comparing apples with space aliens from Mars).

(For those who are wondering, David is represented above by the apples.)

  73. I just wanted to thank Mr. Gilmour for the wonderful music he has created, both with Pink Floyd and in his solo career.

My fiancee and I are getting married later this year, and we decided “Where we Start” will be our wedding song.

David has been a great influence in my life. My fiancee, who was a fair weathered Pink Floyd fan, has come to love your solo work (almost as much as myself!)

Thank you, David, and keep up the great work.

[All the best to you and your fiancee, Matt. – Features Editor]

  74. Good to see we are back, I didn’t like the “service down” message, my mind starts wandering whenever that happens.

MARCH 24, Cardiff, St David’s Hall I presume? I knew our hero was a saint, but not that it was official already, with a hall named after him and all.

David thinks to himself while watching the Giant Malaysian Rainbow-Spotted Cockroach near his floor pedals: ‘This is probably as good a time as any to stand on one leg. . .’

  77. Jethro Tull does put on a good show. And I have to agree, I hope that no one suggests David stand on one leg the next time he performs let alone play the flute….
