Blotto

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: "Comfy Numb" just isn’t enough!

If you wish to be eligible for this game, then you must state which version you think will feature where there were guest appearances.

For example, do you mean Richard Wright’s ‘Arnold Layne’, or David Bowie’s? ‘Comfortably Numb’ with Nick Mason, or without?

There were three shows in London, don’t forget. We obviously don’t expect you to guess which night each track was taken from, but where there was a special guest, we do expect you to be specific.

Needless to say, any vague entries shown below cannot possibly win.

We have extended the closing date for entries to Monday to allow you more time. Please ensure that you are happy with your list before you submit it. All lists submitted are final and changes will not be made under any circumstances, so it’s down to you to get this right.

What with a certain person having a birthday and the addition of our GuestMap, we didn’t tell you anything about the DVD last week.

Well, there are going to be a whopping 23 songs on disc one of David’s double DVD, ‘Remember That Night’. These are from the Royal Albert Hall shows of May 2006, of course.

Go on, guess which songs will be included.

But wait. As this is davidgilmour.com, there has to be an element of silliness involved (and we have to drag this information out to make you suffer), so we have chosen to make a game of it: Blotto.

It’s like Bingo and the lottery, only better. You don’t even have to be drunk to enjoy it.

Basically, you state here – right now – which songs you think will be on the concert disc (yes, including any guest appearances) and in which order they will be. Then you hurry over to the Stuff & Nonsense page to print out your Blotto card and copy the names of the songs onto it, so that you have a handy guide to keep close to your computer at all times.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be revealing a random song/track number. We might even be really mischievous about it and make such revelations in the chatroom or on some other part of the site. We just haven’t decided how wicked we can be with this yet.

Anyway, if we announce that such-and-such a song is to be the fifth track, find number five on your card and mark it as being correct or incorrect (it’s correct if you guessed the right song).

In classic-Bingo fashion, we want to see frenzied exclamations of "Blotto!" splashed all over the blog if you get a row of correct predictions. If you do complete a row – and we’ll be checking, don’t forget (once you state your 23, you can’t change them) – you’ll be entered into a prize draw.

You must have submitted your numbered list of 23 songs, with guest appearances, by midnight Monday (UK) to be eligible.

One attempt each, please, and a list of no more than 23 tracks.

This might just be one of those rare occasions whereby acronyms are vastly appreciated. SOYCD, WYWH, TAB… You know them, I’m sure. It’ll be a good brain workout for you, if you don’t. Eat some fish.

The chatroom will be open tomorrow from 1PM (UK). Doors will close with a slam at 3PM, so please arrive early to avoid disappointment. Everyone’s welcome and we look forward to seeing you.

  1. Ouch FEd!

What a horribly torturous thing to do to us poor DG fans. It’s like a slowly dripping tap and each drawn out drip reveals a song title. A most extreme way to suffer for the most anticipated DVD release of the year!!! I love it! 🙂

There should be a bonus prize for anyone that can correctly guess the release date of the DVD…

  2. Interesting idea. Here is a question. How many of you remember the band Blotto? They had a radio and MTV hit back in the 1980s called “I Wanna Be a Lifeguard.”

I’m guessing that Michael in NJ and Angelo might remember as it was a NY band. And I bet FEd didn’t even know a band existed by that name.

  3. What a fun way to be tortured while waiting for the DVD.

May I be first in the dumb questions line?

Is Breathe/Time/Breathe(Reprise) one song or two or three? Just assuming this were to be one of my guesses, of course.

[I’m not sure if I should say now that the entries are coming in. Please see what the others have to say before you make your mind up and submit your list. – Features Editor]

  4. Well FEd, You have done it now. I thought I would never drink again? But after reading the rules and learning how to play the game, I’ll be smashed before I make my picks.

So let the game begin and may my wife still love me at the end.

    Take Care,
    Thomas

It should be fun to seek out the track/number clues. I won’t be able to get many which may be revealed in the very early-morning chats, but I’ll scour the site for what I can find.

If Dark Globe or some other song is put at the beginning, and the tracks follow the concert line-up, my numbers will likely all be off, but thanks for a fun game to play and a shot at getting Blotto. 🙂

  6. Greetings FEdly,

What a novel idea!! But I was going to try NOT to think this week (spring break and all)!

    Hope your weekend was lovely.

  8. Ooooh!! Blotto eh!

I bet you laughed in a (slightly) maniacal way when you dreamt this one up F’Ed……but it may well rank up there with the best of ’em!

[Thanks very much, mate. There was no “slightly” about it, by the way. – Features Editor]

  9. Aw, man. THIS is where David Bowie came on? Too many variables! I’m not going to sleep for weeks!

    22. Find the Cost of Freedom
    23. Comfortably Numb

I didn’t include Wearing the Inside Out but really wanted to. I do love that song.

Couldn’t go the complete acronym route…too afraid of letter mix-ups (mine, of course). And there wasn’t enough time to fill up on fish. (I have been loading up on strawberries. Do they count?)

    Compulsively,
    Becky

PS–Hello to Bill in Atlanta, whoever you are.

[Strawberries will do just fine. – Features Editor]

  14. I love all Pink Floyd music and I want to thank you for the concert in Poland.

I’m just wondering if there will be Concert DVD from Gdansk. And if not, will there be any fragments from this concert in extras or sth.

[You’ll have to wait and see, Rafal. There will be mention of the Gdansk show in the ‘Breaking Bread, Drinking Wine’ documentary. – Features Editor]

  15. Mmmmm… difficult…

Here’s my stab at it (as clearly and as space conserving as possible with no shorthand – which is unlike me):

    01 – Breathe. 02 – Time. 03 – Breathe(Reprise). 04 – Castellorizon. 05 – On An Island. 06 – The Blue. 07 – Red Sky At Night. 08 – This Heaven. 09 – Then I Close My Eyes. 10 – Smile. 11 – Take A Breath. 12 – A Pocketful Of Stones. 13 – Where We Start. 14 – Shine On You Crazy Diamond. 15 – Wot’s Uh the Deal. 16 – Arnold Layne. 17 – Coming Back To Life. 18 – High Hopes. 19 – The Great Gig in the Sky. 20 – Echoes. 21 – Wish You Were Here. 22 – Find The Cost Of Freedom. 23 – Comfortably Numb.

[rant start] It was interesting reading the past comments about the tour and hearing about some of the same things I experienced at the NIN gig on Sunday night. I have decided that I am going to buy one of those geeky T-Shirts where you can program the array of LED lights to say what you like, wear it backwards and activate it with the phrase “SHUT THE F**K UP!” at the appropriate moments. I’m not just talking about the common ‘lapsed recognition’ or ‘applause any pause’ syndromes, It’s the multiple conversations that you can hear louder than the quiet bits! Yes! NIN do have quiet bits 😉 What happened to those good old days when the audience would sit quietly and await the silence until they would applause? [rant end]

I’m afraid that I won’t be in the chat later today 🙁 Have a good time everybody 🙂

  16. 1. Breathe
    2. Time/Breathe (Reprise)
    3. Castellorizon

    14. Fat Old Sun
    15. Wearing The Inside Out
    16. Coming Back To Life
    17. High Hopes

    19. Great Gig In The Sky
    20. Arnold Layne
    21. WYWH
    22. Find The Cost Of Freedom
    23. Comfortably Numb

  17. As you realize by now, the sillier you get, the more serious we get. I, of course, have questions.

Will David be playing SOYCD parts I-V and then simply call it SOYCD as he did on the Meltdown DVD? I suppose he will. No separate tracks there, hmmmm.

Also, whenever you (FEd) listed Setlists (for some shows in 2006) it was always Breathe/Time/Breathe (Reprise), then all of OAI. I do remember hearing a minute of Speak To Me (at the very start of the show)-before-Breathe>Time>(Breathe Reprise- which has always been a part of Time anyways) at the two Oakland shows.

So, you’re not expecting us to take 3 of our 23 choices with that are you? I mean, you can’t just call this song MeBreatheTime. . .there are performance rights issues and stuff. . .probably why Nick’s lyrics were left out of the Speak To Me intro. . .I digress. Yea-yea. . .I don’t need no stinking pointy-stick. . . I KNOW you have enough rights issues. . .hey, get off of me! . .Here’s my list:

    1. Breathe
    2. Time
    3. Castellorizon
    4. On An Island (with Crosby & Nash)
    5. The Blue (with Crosby & Nash)
    6. Red Sky At Night

    8. Then I Close My Eyes (with Robert Wyatt)
    9. Smile
    10. Take A Breath
    11. A Pocketful Of Stones

    23. Comfortably Numb (with Nick Mason)

Thanks FEd, and keep up the GREAT work mate!

[This merely adds to the fun of it. One song? Three songs? All will be revealed. – Features Editor]

  18. FEd, you are an evil, evil bloke.

    You need a raise. 😀

    ‘Nix.

[No, I need more to keep me occupied. – Features Editor]

  19. Great fun idea, need to get my stuff together first. TAB? Need fish right now…….Got it.

Love the infamous Dick Parry swing from tenor to alto sax. Hope we get to see that switch in entirety for SOYCD on the DVD.

  20. FEd. if we had read concert reviews of shows that gave a setlist, are we still eligible? I dont want to be cheating.

[Not at all. That’s fine. The setlists can be quite deceiving, anyway. – Features Editor]

    Thanks… Jorge David Vera Pino

[There are no plans for David to perform anywhere in the world at this time, sorry. We know how many fans in South America would dearly love to see David put on a series of local concerts, but I’m afraid that no such shows are planned for the future. If any plans are made, of course, we will let you know. Thank you for your message and continued support. – Features Editor]

  22. Ok OK I will play…..

P.S. Fed, what if you tell some numbers on chat and I cannot access? you will repeat those here?

[You won’t miss out. – Features Editor]

  25. Damn…I’ve got 24, assuming that Speak to me and breathe (reprise) aren’t bona fide tracks.

I’m going to hazard a guess that the CSN Find the Cost of Freedom has been omitted.

I also suspect that David’s fondness for tracks-in-sequence means that a surprise might be sprung with the dark side tracks being grouped together in the second set.

seems you have sadistically created something to keep us occupied for the next days. Hope there won’t be too many nervous breakdowns on our side (insert crazy laughter here).

As a non-native English speaker, I’m not so good at idioms. Please tell me: What does “eat some fish” mean

[The next few days? This could last for months, Georg! Fish is said to be good for the brain, so it means nothing more than that: good nutritional advice. – Features Editor]

[And we thought we were being clever when we merged ‘Bingo’ and ‘Lotto’… – Features Editor]

  38. Ahah ! Fed with a “pocketful of ideas” !

I like the sound of “Blotto”, but you know I’m not good in English, so I wonder:

    “Blotto” =
    – a real English name ?
    – a contraction of Bingo/Lotto/ Lottery ?
    – a word that entered your evil mind at random ?

But I’m very proud, I think I understood all the rules !!!!!!!! and I’ll follow them !

    Michèle

[It’s a slang word for ‘drunk’, but you were right: it’s ‘Bingo’ and ‘Lotto’ together. – Features Editor]

  39. ciao,

so this is time for silliness, cheesyness (?!?)….let me go off topic

We all know that echoes and other songs which has been played on all the dates of tour will be in. But there are the “one offs” or those rarely played. Can you all help me to make a list of them? among these rarities, so very precious to be included in the dvd, there are some old songs that I am going crazy for and continue to hope will be included somehow.

So, two questions to ALL of you: which are these special songs rarely played or not always played? and which of them you NEED to have on the dvd? I begin my list and please correct me:

the great gig in the sky
    astronomy domine
    arnold layne
    dominoes
    dark globe
    what’s uh the deal
    fat old sun
on the turning away (only venice, it seems)
    coming back to life….
    what else?

and of all these I desperately need Arnold layne and astronomy domine

    Ciao…. :-))

wished to join the chatroom today but kept asking for the room password which I do not have nor know!! How would I be able to have it and if it is a problem I will be missing chatting steadily..

All the best coping with the ever growing changes, and now Blotto, might have to work though

    Emmanuel

[The chatroom closed its doors at 3PM (UK) today. There was a ‘lock in’, which meant that a completely random room password was put in place for the benefit of those already in the chatroom at closing time (so that they could get back in if they accidentally logged themselves out). This room password changes each time, so you obviously need to be in the chatroom before closing time to discover it. Opening/closing times are stated on our calendar. – Features Editor]

    *********************************************************************

    Let’s try again…

Everything above is null and void.

Please number your lists and make any guest appearances very clear. 23 songs only.

Only entries published below this post will be eligible, so please ALL submit your lists again.

Apologies for the inconvenience. We want everyone to have an equal chance of winning, of course, and would rather clear up any potential confusion before the contest gets going.

So, a second chance to all if you made a mistake with your original list, or if you have simply had second thoughts about the songs. But this is certainly the final chance, so please get it right.

Everyone who has submitted an entry above has now been e-mailed, so it’s still a level playing field.

    Good luck to all.

I hope the acronyms are not too radical.

Why you make me/us do this? or better, how do you make me/us do this?

  68. Caption (kind of)…

I’ve been staring at this photo now for 2 hours straight waiting for “The Flip” but it hasn’t happened yet..should I keep watching F.E.?

You are loco Fedo!..but Blotto is my motto so I goto try this…however I thinko I’ll wait a bito to see if Guyo Pratto postos an entro..Would that be cheatingo?

  69. Hard to find out the setlists of the three nights at the RAH and still harder to select 23 songs in the right order !

I like watching on DVD a real entire concert without any additional songs, so it’s rather a wish/hope than a guess (the first night + 2 bonus):

    1. Breathe/Time/Breathe Reprise
    2. Castellorizon
    3. On An Island
    4. The Blue
    5. Red Sky At Night
    6. This Heaven
    7. Then I close My Eyes

No amount of fish can improve my sense of how songs are best lined up to go into the next nicely. And I really prefer all of On An Island played as it is on the cd.

    Thanks for the brain teaser.

  91. I look at all these wonderful lists of recorded history and realize that anyone who purchases this remarkable DVD will have already received the “prize”…

Thank you David, Richard, Nick, Mr. Parry et all…

  92. THIS IS SO BLOODY HARD

At first i thought it was easy then you start to try & convince your self that the set list might different because of any number of reasons.

I think all the guests that appeared will be on the DVD(or will they) then i think they may appear on the second DVD as a special chapter & David may not decide to include any guests in the Concert disk.

Fed/David/Polly you are driving me up the wall, but i guess that is the idea,if BLOTTO was a rubic’s cube you would have been thrown against the wall in frustration by now.

I think i will wait till monday before submiting so i can really enjoy the pain of this game but then the fun will really begin when you slowly, slowly release the set list.GRRRR

I am hooked on this already Fed.

  93. You could surprise us all and produce 23 different versions of David performing Comfortably Numb shot at various concerts over the years. I reckon between 1980 and 2006, David must have performed it to camera getting on for twenty times. The remainder could be padded out with, dare I say it, versions by Roger or the Scissor Sisters!!

The David/Rick version of CN played on 30th was very good. However, I was hoping to be able to see Nick on drums from 31st captured on the DVD. That said, I understand Rick’s vocals on that date were not his best…..still with a bit of ‘skillful editing’ of the sound and vision from 30th/31st, I’m sure that could be rectified:-)

No guests, there were none at the Toronto concerts. I would prefer the guests to be on the second disk as bonus songs, because the band was perfect just as it was. Also, B/T/BR was not at the beginning of set 1 in Toronto, and I prefered it that way, Castellorizon was an excellent tune to open the show.

  95. Hi all,

Ahhh, it feels good to be ‘home.’ I had to go to a ‘family meeting’ which is basically when all the family of a child sit down and ‘discuss’ (HA) where the child should be placed. So gut-wrenching and draining! Gotta love the ‘system.’ At the end of the meeting the mom blurts out “Your system sucks!” And all the social workers and faciliators agreed “Yes, yes it does, but no one has thought up a better system.”

Great game idea, FEd! You really do need to find another hobby through. This one is gonna take some thought, so I’ll get mine in Friday.

    ~Erin

  107. I know that I probably messed up any chance for my ‘song selection’ to make it into any contest by throwing ‘Marooned’ in the mix.

The concert that I was privileged to see did not have any ‘special’ guests. However, as I had never seen David or any of ‘the band’ before, I felt they were all ‘special’ and will always ‘Remember That Night’ at the Rosemont in Chicago in April of ’06.

(Erin…your news sounds very distressing. I hope that somehow the decision made will turn out alright.)

Nice to see Piergiorgio’s name again after a long absence. (Pardon me if I have forgotten the Italian lessons on the proper way to address you.)Missed your ‘commentarys’.

    My best to you all,
    jan

Having been at the first Massey Hall show I have to agree with you Andy. The special guest would help make great second DVD. The band could be the best I have ever heard on their own. None the less this could be one fuck of a concert dvd.

  113. [There should be a bonus prize for anyone that can correctly guess the release date of the DVD…]

No need to guess. I’ve decided that the DVD will be released on April 24th, my 35th birthday. It’s a great way to celebrate getting halfway to the three-score-and-ten don’t you think?

So no messing about, David. This is an important deadline and I expect you to make it without question or incident. FEd, no more messing about with people’s minds and teasing them with all these competitions and other trivia. As usual I’m going to have to take things in hand here.

Thank God for David Gilmour’s “On An Island”, it soothes me comfortably and helps relaxing me after working almost 13 hours a day since Tuesday.

  119. O.K. Fed,

I am feeling a little blotto at the moment. It’s just that I would rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy;-+

Shine on you crazy little DVD.

p.s.Good luck to all you bloggers!

    (-:Tomi Sue:-)

  120. I got a new Taylor tonight. My first acoustic!

I must say I will have to get use to the width. Starting with an electric has it’s downsides, I suppose. My hubby wanted to give me a pick-me-up since I’ve been down because of my surgery and stressed. Playing till my fingers are raw has all new meaning 😉

I hear people worrying that some songs might get left out just because they didn’t fit on their list.

[Well, there are going to be a whopping 23 songs on disc one of David’s double DVD, ‘Remember That Night’.]

Key words there, “disc one.” I’m sure it will all make it on the there. David hasn’t let us down yet, now has he?

Another blogger mentioned that David may put all the special guests together. I thought of that too. There are just too many options! Oh well, at least we get 2 freebees.

I even went out and got a bingo marker (Green is the Colour.) Good luck all, cause I’m gonna win (I figure if I keep saying that, it’s bound to happen sometime.) Here’s my list:

  122. Aaargghh….too many combinations to choose from. This is a real challenge and a welcome distraction from all my other worries.

I don’t want to argue or to be put down, please, it’s just an opinion.

    FEd: “No, Dick. Blotto…”

  125. [There should be a bonus prize for anyone that can correctly guess the release date of the DVD…]

My guess for the release date….June 17th, Fathers day..do they ever release things on a sunday though? doh!

  126. Please note, the number 15 song, Arnold Layne version I reference on my list is the Richard Wright version.

Is this notation sufficient or should I repost my entire list.

    Thanks.

[I’ve changed it. – Features Editor]

  127. Well well….this is a tricky one..nice work FeEd. Let me think…hummmm.

Now you mention that there are 23 songs on the 1st disc. BUT and this is a big BUT..there could be more songs on the extra disc that you don’t mention. These could be special one off’s or rarities like various versions of Arnold Layne and Dark Globe.

I am going to tackle the song line-up with the songs most heard on tour but with the special guests included at the Albert Hall…so here goes..

    1)Breathe/Time/Breathe Reprise
2-11) On an Island in order as on the CD (w/Crosby & Nash on OAI and The Blue, w/Robert Wyatt on TICME)
12)Shine On You Crazy Diamond (w/Crosby & Nash)
    13)Wots…The Deal
    14)Fat old Sun
    15)Wearing The Inside Out
    16)Dominoes
    17)Arnold Layne (w/David Bowie)
    18)Coming Back To Life
    19)High Hopes
    20)Echoes
21)Wish You Were Here (w/Nick Mason)
22)Find The Cost Of Freedom (w/Crosby & Nash)
    23)Comfortably Numb (w/Nick Mason).

    Cheers, Howard

  128. You used the words ‘23 songs on disc one’, rather than ‘23 tracks’.

I might have gone straight for the: Breathe / Time / Breathe [Reprise] combination as Track 1 if you’d used the word ‘tracks’ but as you’ve stated ‘songs’ I guess it ought to be: 1.Breathe 2.Time 3. Breathe[Reprise].

This, you will realise, could end in your being sued for the little known retort of Misleading Bloggers should it turn out as the former and the majority have gone for the latter. But I guess you will have Public Liability Insurance for this kind of eventuality. Watch out for the Blotto Backlash blog header with such comments as: “I was going to list Track 14. as Shine On / Wot’s Uh The Deal / Fat Old Sun until I realised it was ‘songs’ and not ‘tracks’ you wanted.”

I’ve stuck with the ‘songs’ option partially for this reason and also having them as 3 individual songs keeps the concert to round about the correct running time.

Opting for these 3 individual ‘songs’ as 1 ‘track’ would mean including a further 22 songs and creating an artificially long running time.

Just off down the bookies now to see if I can get decent odds on it being the other way round…..

  131. Jan:

thanks for being so kind, too kind. Always read but I am less “intruding” than before ( for the pleasure of Fed , wo has less people going always off topic :-). But just throw a subject to me and my “commentarys” will be back!!

I see no one helps me with these rare songs. come on it’s fun. I have not been to all concerts and read back everyhting is a mess. final try:

Let’s track down a list of “rare” or not standard performances during the tour ( Example. Echoes is a standard, “on the turning away” was played only in Venice)

    ciao a tutti.

  133. I really dont want to open the Floyd gates with too many “special guests” if ya know what I mean…it dilutes the original sound

  134. What a disappointment you closed the chat! I was coming to tease you a little! But not really tease…just to have funny chats, because I discovered just now that Cate Blanchett will play the young Bob Dylan in a movie about his life.

Wow! I don’t know what Dylan thinks about a woman who play him, a man…but I can say that, of course, a woman wouldn’t be happy to know a man is choosen to play her part! So, I wonder if the contrary sound better…what about you?

OK, will talk about that in another occasion. Have a nice week end!

    L!

[I hadn’t heard about that. That’s funny. – Features Editor]

  135. Hiya FEd,

I missed the chats this week, how sad. Oh well, maybe next week.

    Have truly great weekend.

    Penny

  136. ok Fed….now we are ready pour la composition du DVD 2 !!! j’ai une liste de bonus ready ! 😉 (Gdansk, beaujolais, olympia larsen problem…I was there ;-), more and more…..!)

    Félicien

  137. Why cant I access the chat F*Ed?

[Because the chatroom closed at 3PM (UK time) and, to get the lock-in password, you must arrive before closing time. – Features Editor]

  138. [I see no one helps me with these rare songs. come on it’s fun. I have not been to all concerts and read back everyhting is a mess. final try:]

To the poor and lazy Piergiorgio:

‘Great Gig In The Sky’ was played with Sam Brown at the Olympia, Paris on 16th March 2006…but surely you know that.

    Michèle

  139. My first thoughts whilst compiling the following list were that this is quite simple, but I’m now in agreement with Mr Bowie when he wrote, “It Ain’t Easy”.

I suspect the Breathe/Time/Breathe reprise segment is the key to having any chance of being a winner; will they/it be classed as one or three tracks? If they are classed as three then my effort (and a good few others) will be as accurate as a Shevchenko shot on goal.

    1. Breathe/Time/Breathe Reprise
    2. Castellorizon
    3. On An Island (C & N)
    4. The Blue (C & N)
    5. Red Sky At Night

    8. Smile
    9. Take A Breath
    10. Pocketful Of Stones
    11. Where We Start
    12. Shine On (C & N)
    13. Wots The Deal
    14. Fat Old Sun

    21. Arnold Layne (Bowie)
    22. Wish You Were Here (N Mason)
    23. Comfortably Numb (N Mason)

Having just looked at the list, I am reminded just how great a set of concerts the RAH shows were. We were blessed by the hands of greatness.

    Jeremy

    Ciao ciao
    Roberto

  141. this is tough because there were more than 23 songs over three nights, so something has to give.

then the different guest singers on ‘arnold layne’ and ‘comfortably numb’.

add the confusion over ‘breathe’/’time’/’breathe (reprise)’ being one song or three. i see that both ‘breathe’/’time’/’breathe (reprise)’ and ‘breathe’, ‘time’, ‘breathe (reprise)’ are on the site.

but this just adds to the fun of it. you have to take a chance. it would be too easy otherwise.

    so here’s my attempt:

    1. breathe
    2. time
    3. breathe (reprise)
    4. castellorizon
    5. on an island
    6. the blue
    7. red sky at night
    8. this heaven
    9. then i close my eyes
    10. smile
    11. take a breath
    12. a pocketful of stones
    13. where we start
    14. shine on you crazy diamond

    16. dominoes
    17. coming back to life
    18. high hopes
    19. wot’s uh… the deal
    20. echoes
    21. wish you were here
    22. arnold layne (bowie)
    23. comfortably numb (bowie)

So that´s my idea of the songs order and how you can see I really don´t like eating fish.

  148. What a great idea, Fed !

I’m still wondering if Time and Breathe (Reprise) are considered as one track or two as they are two songs but here’s my guess…

    1 Breathe
    2 Time / Breathe (Reprise)
    3 Castellorizon
4 On An Island (David Crosby & Graham Nash)
5 The Blue (David Crosby & Graham Nash)

    20 Echoes
21 Wish You Were Here (Nick Mason)
22 Find The Cost Of Freedom (David Crosby & Graham Nash)
    23 Comfortably Numb (David Bowie)

Thanks for entertaining us , Fed 🙂

  149. Well it’s time I made my entry…

    23 Comfortably Numb (Mason)

    Best regards,
    Ralph

  151. Probably no one will care at this point, but I urge everyone to not make “time” and “breathe reprise” seperate tracks. On Dark Side of the Moon, they are one track, on Echoes, they are one track, and on the Pulse album and DVD, they are one track. To the best of my knowledge, the only place where you will find “Breathe Reprise” listed as a seperate track is on those fairly recently released Dark Side of the Moon ’73 tour shirts, and on all the fan made bootlegs.

With that said, here is mine-

    1. Speak To Me/Breathe
    2. Time/Breathe Reprise
    3. Castellorizon
    4. On An Island (w/Crosby & Nash)
    5. The Blue (w/Crosby & Nash)
    6. Red Sky At Night
    7. This Heaven
    8. Then I Close My Eyes (w/Robert Wyatt)
    9. Smile
    10. Take A Breath
    11. A Pocketful Of Stones
    12. Where We Start

    13. Shine On You Crazt Diamond (w/Crosby & Nash)
    14. Fat Old Sun
    15. Dominoes
    16. Arnold Layne
    17. Coming Back To Life
    18. High Hopes
    19. Great Gig In The Sky (w/Mica Paris)
    20. Echoes

    21. Wish You Were Here (w/Nick Mason)
    22. Find The Cost Of Freedom (w/Crosby & Nash)
    23. Comfortably Numb (w/Nick Mason)

Essentially, the last night at the Royal Albert Hall. Most likely, the setlist will come from one show, because they were probably wearing different clothes each night, no real film editor would take songs from different nights (unless they woar the same outfit each night).

Its safe to bet that they won’t mess with the setlist, because that just be needlessly wierd and nonsensical. I might entertain that notion if the Pulse setlist was messed with.

So the real question is, who is more important in the encore, Nick Mason or David Bowie? The obvious answer is Nick Mason, a technically complete Pink Floyd Reunion is obviously more important then David Bowie showing up (that’s not to say David Bowie is a bad guest or anything, but he is just not a member of the floyd). But I have no doubt that one of the bonus features will be a David Bowie performance of Arnold Layne.

  152. We have been so lucky to have the chance to attend the RAH gig at May 31st, and it had been one of the best gigs I ever attended, if not the best at all, so it is no surprise I find that setlist perfect enough to submit it here.

I can hardly wait for the DVD to be released, although it´s only a small substitute as one is craving for another tour of David.

  153. Dearest F’ed, this contest had me stumped. I know nothing of song arrangement so I cut and pasted my way to a fairly random order, although I think these songs could well be included. I did want to play and I hope I’m not too late. Had much too-ing and fro-ing in my head as to whether midnight Monday was 12:00 a.m. or came right after 11:59 p.m. If it is the former, I am too late but I banked on you taking down the posting thingy right away if time had elapsed so here is my poor and tardy entry for what its worth, good luck to all. It sounds like fun.

    Michèle,

thanks for reminding, great. As I told I don’t remember all the setlists I read.

Well, that version of “GGITS” should be included in the bonus, to me.

Someone elses’s suggestion of rare performances?

    Ciao!!

  158. Hi all,

I had a great time to find out the DVD track list. I assumed that:
    1) all guests will be included on the concert disk
    2) only RAH nights footage will be showed
    3) David would like to thank Richard Wright (without him, it would be difficult to perform Echoes), and two of his songs will be included, especially there won’t be Wearing The Inside Out from Mermaid Theatre section,
    4) I decided that Coming Back To Life will not appear in main show as it already was on Pulse, David Gilmour In Concert and StatPack DVD’s and the second one will be Dominoes, it was tough, but I accepted it had been David tour, and he would like to show his earlier songs Wot’s… and Fat Old Sun

    here is my list:

    1. Breathe
    2. Time/Breathe Reprise
    3. The Great Gig In The Sky (Mica Paris) (listened to DSOTM album on Sunday, it should here, or after Time anywhere)
    4. Castellorizon
    5. On An Island (Crosby, Nash)
    6. The Blue (Crosby, Nash)
    7. Red Sky At Night
    8. This Heaven
    9. Then I Close My Eyes (Robert Wyatt)
    10. Smile
    11. Take A Breath
    12. A Pocketful Of Stones
    13. Where We Start
    14. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Crosby, Nash)
    15. Wot’s Uh The Deal
    16. Wearing The Inside Out
    17. Fat Old Sun
    18. High Hopes
    19. Echoes
    20. Wish You Were Here (Nick Mason)
    21. Find The Coast Of Freedom (Crosby, Nash)
    22. Arnold Layne (David Bowie)
    23. Comfortably Numb (David Bowie)

This competition shows, how much time it takes to decide which songs should be there and of course in which order. What if we had possibility to listen and watch all the material?

    Thanks again, FED.

    Good luck to everyone,
    Tomasz

    Bloody ridiculous, bye now.

[Me. The wind is bitterly cold, too. By the way, you’ve missed out 16, so I’m taking your list as it stands (‘Coming Back To Life’ as your #17, ‘High Hopes’ as your #18, etc. – Features Editor]

  160. I tried and tried, but it’s too difficult. However, it is a most excellent competition.

I look forward to finding out whether ‘Breathe’, ‘Time’ and ‘Breathe (Reprise)’ are three songs or one. Surely it has to be three.

I agree with Victor. It would be too easy if this was made clear. I hope people have the good sense to appreciate this instead of complaining should their guess be proved incorrect.

The Blotto name is clever, combining bingo and lotto, I thought it was an established drinking game I didn’t know about – looking forward to playing the game.

    Thanks. CT

  165. That was like doing a research paper for me playing the Blotto, yet fun and exciting. I can imagine how we all feel when the new DVD becomes available.

I just finished reading the posts of May 2006 about David’s concerts in RAH. How on earth we missed these concerts? My husband and I wish we were there. It was not until we purchased “On An Island” CD that we realized David Gilmour has his official web site – and that was way too late, we missed so many good stuff by David Gilmour last year (from his tour in US when he was promoting “On An Island” to his appearance in Jay Leno’s show). If we would have known about his concerts in UK, we would have made the trip. We’ve been saving in hopes of seeing David Gilmour live. We sure missed it in 2006!! =(

  171. Thank you all for your entries. No further lists will be considered.

All valid entries are shown above. If your entry is not shown above (that is to say, after my post timed at 6:39PM on 14 March), then you will not be considered eligible should you win.

That doesn’t mean that you can’t play along, of course.

Thanks again for playing and good luck, everyone.
